EBay madness

I didn't realise bidding on Linka stuff would be competitive (ok only £41 at time of posting but am quite surprised)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Linka-System-Trial-Set-Moulds-Plus-Metal-Doors-and-Windows-/111738554012?hash=item1a0423069c

It sold for £44 in the end (+ £7.50 pp)! This stuff has always sold well (ie expensive), but I've never understood why. (I have some somewhere, but making anything remotely realistic out of it is near impossible - all those joints to hide.)

Well so far as I know Lion wasn't exactly the prototype for the class 47, though it had a similar (same?) Sulzer engine, and certainly looks like a lot like a 47. But it was built by BRCW, not Brush.

Another empty box anyone?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R22587-EMPTY-BOX-for-BR-4-6-2-BATTLE-of-BRITAIN-LOCO-34062-17-SQUADRON-py-/361331841108?hash=item54210e5854

Or a photo of a black 5: (well, almost... it is at least a 4-6-0 I suppose, and even shares its number with one. I'll go with a B7/1)

Nahh... That box is far too modern for me! ;)

A bit of a clue as to the loco NOT being an LMS black 5 is the clear "R" on the tender, and a suggestion of the "E" before it...LNER... :)

It looks a little GCR I think....LNER locos are not my field though! ;)

He has also got this as a D47.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POSTCARD-RP-LNER-CLASS-D47-LOCO-NO-247-LNER-2741-BR-62741-THE-BLANKNEY-/191659843886?hash=item2c9fd1212e

$_12.JPG

When a D47 is an ex-GNSR 4-4-0.

Does not seem to know his arssee from his elbow.

Obviously going off the wrong LNER numbering system.

Ebay now have got a category for empty boxes.  They messed up the rest, I think they think any body involved with model railways is a collector rather than a modeller.

Sometimes its hard to distinguish between the two. (I'm going to finish that layout some day.)

"BRAND NEW MINT IN UNOPENED BOX
Hornby R3115 EXETER
THIS RARE LOCO FROM Hornby IS MINT IN BOX AND HAS NOT BEEN
TAKEN OUT OF THE PLASTIC CASE NOT EVEN FOR PHOTOS"

Hmm, looks like "somebody" missed the announcement (now rather old) of a whole batch more. Two can be pre-ordered most anywhere including Hornby direct for around the 250 quid BIN price this guy is hoping for <sigh>

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3115-EXETER-34001-SUPER-DETAIL-UNREBUILT-WEST-COUNTRY-CLASS-BR-SR-/141747970604?hash=item2100d6622c

besides which if you were really desperate to get one there's one on auction starting at 179 and this is the THIRD (to my knowledge/watching) attempt made to sell this example with no takers so far.

EDIT: To correct fat fingered typing <sigh>

In what strange parallel universe is this actually worth three hundred and fifty sheets?!?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3133-East-Coast-Flying-Scotsman-Class-91-DVT-And-MK4-Coaches-Mint-Boxed-/171878003736?hash=item2804ba3418

And I am pretty sure it isn't DCC ready either.....

A nice model - professionally ruined!

Must be factory weathered then as.

Listed as used as they have been ran on a rolling road once, but other than that, they have been kept in their boxes.
