The description says "Made out of tin, very well done. Wonderful details, the flying Scotsman as it was."

So which statement are you questioning? The first three words look accurate. Dunno about the rest, I haven't got that far.

Not a model railway item but just had a strange experience.  Trying to get hold of a docking station/charger for an old PDA, found someone who has two of them on Ebay for £25.00 BIN.   So I decided, considering that this is very old tech and probably very slow shifting to make a Best Offer of £20.00 and see where we go from there.

In 36 hours there has been no response whatsoever to my offer but the BIN has now been hiked up to a shade short of £40.00!!!!

Utterly bizzare....

Can't verify the fourth word without buying it!

I seem to recollect this coming up a year or so ago.

Regards

These are a "product line" and there are possibly hundreds of them.

I myself have seen them for sale in shops, museums (NOT the NRM! ;) ), and Market Stalls around the North West....England that is!

Returning to my Best Offer and price hike scenario for a moment, exactly the same thing happened with a second item from the same seller I made a Best Offer on.  To add to the mystery, twenty four hours after both my Best Offers expired (without any response whatsoever from the seller) the BIN prices went back down again.

Sounds a bit like Ryanair (and other) flight pricing, show a bit of interest and hike the price.

They do it with beer here:

I have just stumbled upon another "Tin Built" LNER Loco....

"Malard" this time!

The advert says this is in 'excellent boxed condition' - in that case I'm just popping up to Specsavers as there is clearly something wrong with my eyesight! :scratchhead:

The box does indeed look to be in excellent condition.

These used to be sold by pastimes and TKMaxx for around £20-£30. My Ex partner almost bought me one!

It shouts, "READ BEFORE YOU BID".

In my case it was 'before you don't bid!' Not quite as gruesome as the 'Scotsman', but...........  :O  :stinker:

A 'diesel' locomotive!!!

can't help thinking that a better description of this one might have attracted more interest from bidders unless the seller genuinely doesn't realise what this is!

I tell you, the whole selling game's a total gas!  :jester:

Trying to be something it isn't:

At least the description is fair, but why, just why?

It's better than some of the so called professional outfit's work I've seen at shows.  :mosking:
