EBay madness

Recommended Posts

Not really "Madness", just a person selling the full Flying Scotsman set at a reasonable discount

You'll spend the saving on replacement parts anyway, based on what I've seen of the various builds on the Forum.....

...and yet the same seller has a second identical 'RARE' Mainline model for ...... £39.00 ( B.I.N.) and this one is only £8 postage .. It says its MIB so it can't be any different to the t'other one in the two posts above..

Gostude link2

Edit

I note that the £174 is numbered 75033 , but Google, nor me, can find any record that this was ever made, so what's the chances its been renumbered, or in the wrong box, or body swopped with a later example from Kader, but not surely a Bachmann version....

The catalogue number 37052 was issued in 1977, but the model was subsequently renumbered to 75033 in 1983 along with traction tyres on the rear driving axle.

I have a little unknown book that is a very rare and very hard to find. "Mainline and Airfix (G.M.R) Model Railways". A guide for the collector by Lewis Charles. ISBN 0 9514418 0 9. NOW out of print.

As it list all catalogue numbers along with year of manufacture of the loco or coaches and wagons in particularly in question.

This same seller is ""STILL"" trying to sell this Kitbuilt Lima Class 117 Trans Clyde DMU set

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LIMA-BR-TRANS-CLYDE-KIT-BUILT-CLASS-117-DMU-SET-MIB-/220741354793?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item336535c529#ht_26

Do you think you can get a postage discount for buying both bargains ?

Would someone please explain to me why Matchbox Mk IV Ford Cortina's are suddenly fetching such ludicrous prices all of a sudden?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260779884406&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

They are worth tops a couple of quid for a really good example and that is something considering that most Matchbox models of the time came with paint chips and wonky wheels as standard out of the box!!!

This is a thing that bothers me, its a seller that is selling someones products as there own

http://completed.shop.ebay.co.uk/malcwest23/m.html?rt=nc&LH_Complete=1&_fln=1&_trksid=p3911.c0.m283&_rdc=1

I think it should be brought to the attention of scalescenes

It appears this bud has been nipped. All items are now unavailable. Quite agree this chap's got a nerve if the product is not his own.

Or perhaps the quoted post should be brought to the attention of the E bay Seller, unless steammad has some evidence to back up his statement.

It always baffles me when a really nice item, owned for an extended period, gets wrongly described - you expect that of folk outside the hobby, but not of an owner of such a nice model as this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Maunsell-Brake-First-Coach-Lawrence-Models-/190532573734?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c5ca05a26

He describes it as high-window, but clearly it is low-window, and as a Maunsell brake-first. It looks to me like a low-window pantry-brake-first to Dia 2551, of which two were built in 1928, to complete the Southampton all-first boat set. I hope it finds a good home.

He seems to have correctly described the high-window composite he is also selling.

I wondered whether I should put this here or in the 'Imaginary Locomotives' topic http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item35b2350b97. See how far down you read before the penny drops!

So if I understand this correctly, and correct me if I am wrong here, this guy is selling a very crummy (being generous) photograph/negative of a D10xx Western which he thinks is actually a secret 'strategic reserve' type conspiracy as it contains parts of D0260?

Whatever this guy is on, it sure as hell ain't this planet...
