Torn-on-the-platform
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...5#ht_1084wt_698 I think I've found Bibby Line going for ridiculous prices before, but never this much. Is it really that sought after or is this just another case of eBay madness? *I have found LTD edition Fighter Command for less!
pete_mcfarlane
For £10k I'd expect the description to have some full stops in it!
coachmann
If the local tip wont accept it, is the seller giving £10,000 to whoever takes it off their hands?
oggy1953
It has to be a joke, but what has it cost to place the advert ? still he wont be paying sellers fees.
RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted June 21, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 21, 2011 However the spoiler for the Subaru Impreza (which he is also selling) does seem quite reasonable at £200. Regards, Nick
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 21, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 21, 2011 I think he just got carried away pressing the '0' key and then thought he'd better put in a comma and a full stop to make it look good. (On the other hand 'someone' might have told him that 'old trains' make big money)

Torn-on-the-platform
No matey put in a stupid price cus I'm just looking offers cheers Interesting tactic to go for there... I really don't see the logic
Guest Natalie Graham
I don't see the logic in not including a make an offer button too, if he's really looking for offers. Most likely he's using ebay as a way to advertise but making sure no-one buys it through ebay so he doesn't have to pay the final value fees. RJS1977
He must surely have meant £100. Whilst this stuff is probably worth closer to £10, there is quite a lot of it! Clearly not an enthusiast so he probably doesn't have a clue what its actually worth. ! As someone who does quite a bit of browsing/purchasing on the 2nd hand market I'd say: HST power cars £20/pair Mk 3 coach with bogies £8 Mk3 coach body only £2 Pannier tanks @ £15 each: £30 0-4-0 tanks @ £10 each: £30 Other wagons/coaches 30 @ £2:50-£3 each say £80 Controller £10 Points 4@£4 each £16 Other track sections 30 @ £1 each £30 Baseboard with track say £80 So in theory probably about £300 worth. However I doubt many enthusiasts would buy all that in one go and he'd almost certainly be better off selling it in smaller lots. Richard
signalmaintainer
Lots of typos in the descriptions with a few 'lols' for good measure, so I really don't think that he meant to put it as £10,000... As the lister appears to be functionally illiterate, judging upon his/her written communication skills, no surprise at the asking price.

RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted June 22, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2011 No matey put in a stupid price cus I'm just looking offers cheers I wrote to this guy as follows: Hi Yamaha1boy Unfortunately your listing does not accept offers. It is "Buy it now" for £10,000. If you want to receive offers you need to activate the "offers" button by editing your listing; His reply was as follows: I can't seem to do that on my phone if u'd. Like to view and make me an offer that's fine cheers

45568
Item 3207 1863 1321. A rare opportunity to obtain a model of the only class 44 rebuilt with a centre headcode!!! Cheers, Peter C.
RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted June 24, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 24, 2011 Around 1969 D9 DID get fitted with a centre headcode at one end following accident damage. Though the item for sale appears to be D6.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted June 28, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2011 After recent negative comments about a certain venerable brand of pannier tank body, does this chap have the right idea, perhaps? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/scrapped-0-6-0-tank-loco-low-loader-/290582073825?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43a80a91e1

But then I have occasionally been caught counting rivets, so what do I know?
RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted June 28, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2011 IMHO any locomotive that was dismantled to "body only" with no frames, would probably fall completely apart when the attempt was made to lift it onto the lorry
