Captain Slough
diodes.. in 1905? this was probably valve controlled.... i really thought it wouldn't sell or would go for a tenner to someone who wanted the bogies. Pretty certain I'm going to end up being asked for a refund now from some buyer who hasnt realised it really is as bad an attempt as I described it as. eBay really is weird. surely whoever linked it from that facebook page that I haven't been able to find must have said "look at this its terrible, don't buy it". if they didn't they should have 3 1

As for ebay...

Sjcm
I wouldn't worry about it. Everytime I put on some tat that unexpectably goes through the roof, I think of those sellers flogging tiny parts for nearly the price of the complete loco or have a quick browse of Gostude's listings. Soon kills off any sellers guilt and there is the possibility people actually want it for what it is🤔 Edited February 13 by Sjcm 4 2

Is it just me, or does the seller studiously avoid showing the ends of the carriage (given the somewhat ‘melted’ appearance of the corridor connection). Description = “in good order” Hmmmm 🤔 Steve S In this case - I can't believe I'm saying this - the e-bay seller is not necessarily describing the coach unreasonably. I had several of these Bachmann Bulleid coaches where the corridor connector deformed in this way - even when stored in their boxes. A very soft plastic was used and the connector was easy to pull off, manipulate and put back in almost as good as new condition. I fitted newer Bulleid bogies with metal wheels and they were good runners. 1

I recently listed a rear mudguard that I'd replaced with a much better one. Lots of photos and a good description of the rusty, holed and filler bodged but OEM article. Needs a lot of welding and patience! When it sold for £120, I thought it would soon be on it's way back to me. But the buyer was happy it "exactly as described". So you never know.

Christmas! I have a few of those. From the "Classic Train Set" that has a very South African feel to the loco, stock and buildings. To be honest, a much better set with plenty of play value than the Hornby Playtrains range and they can be found for less than a tenner. They do several, bigger sets too, with freight stock and the largest has both coaches and wagons. Sound and lights as standard. What's not to love, and great for the garden... 2 1

I may be wrong but I think this is a case of ''box madness'' The box is for 8f 48094 which hit the shelves in Dec.1961. It was the final (limited) production and as such is as rare as Ludlow Castle, possibly more so. The starting price was a very sporting tenner but looking at the bidding history it appears that a few folks got a bit excited. Quickly looking at the contents I've seen 3R tenders go for £30 plus.(equally daft) A certain person is selling just the tender draw bars for £8.00 !!!!!. Hard to say re the motor parts as seller hasn't checked the comms for continuity or resistance so best consider the motor scrap. The price of chassis is a bit up and down but I'll own up to shelling out £35.00 for a pair of rather nice motorless 8f chassis to get a couple of scrappers rolling again but I've seen them go for more. (Personally I only buy old manky scrap/wrecks as I get my fun from rebuilding and getting stuff running again) Maybe some trader has a boxless 48094 and thinks he's on a winner? I just hope the box isn't a repro.🙃 Cheers, Rich 1 1

Not sure if there's a resurgence in interest but I've got my own 8F on there at the moment. Sadly I'm not expecting a ton as it's boxless and not dismantled😟 1 1

Ludlow Castle. The best thing about them is that they all work, even if they're all over 60 years old! 3
