LNWR lives on
How's this for a corker - or do I mean Gem? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e6a36c50d On arrival in mail if won, first stop, paint and repair shop
Titan
There's been a revision of the BIN price so it's possible 6 were sold at the "correct" price before it was "amended". Common practice - you run out of stock, but rather than cancelling the ad and then paying again for a new one, you just up the price to something no one is going to pay, and adjust it back again when you have stock. Katier
On arrival in mail if won, first stop, paint and repair shop Just slightly the wrong region isn't is? Looks to be a respectible model in terms of what it could become.. but does need a complete strip down and repaint/detail. On the flipside... How can a Currently produced kit be very rare? Ok it's made by 3SMR now, but exactly the same kit is available from them.

RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted January 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) I find the postage charge somewhat high on this empty box - as is £3 for the box! Oh Dear, looks like someone else is twinned with Cartmel.... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3370e1371f http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3370e13b47 http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3370e14efe http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3370e1686f ...and others. (There are a couple of crazy postings like Gaiety Tank £444 and Hornby 'toy' at both £114 and £144). Will give him the benefit of the doubt on duplicate postings as listing on*bay seems to be getting more and more complex but all the rest? 3rd item now changed to a more sensible £14 Edited January 21, 2012 by Metr0Land

pH
Serious question - am I missing something here? Is this a rare plate? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steam-Locomotive-Plate-/290660531875?pt=UK_Collectables_Railwayana_RL&hash=item43acb7bea3 There are a slew of wagon plates currently on there at starting bids of GBP10 to GBP20, and I think that is a bit expensive (usually they start under GBP10), but this seems completely out of line. Its certainly a wagon plate, not a locomotive one as claimed. How many locos of 12 Tons did the LMS or any railway company own? No idea of what it came from as the LMS had random (reused) numbers before they introduced block numbering in 1934. Kevin Martin
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted January 22, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2012 The vendor seems to be a 'general' seller when you look at their other items. Obviously they think that anything 'old railway' means valuable and 'rare' It is irritating to see the term 'rare' so grossly misused in so many Ebay auctions. Now I think that this http://cgi.ebay.co.u...ME:B:SS:GB:1123 could certainly be considered rare. If there hadn't been proprietary versions now available I might have considered it! As for the value of the wagon plate, the expectations are plain ludicrous. Recently I put up four of the things (one from each company) at a well know railwayana auctions and they sold as a job lot for under £50. Perhaps some advice to these people as to what it actually is and what their expectations might be. One of the four.

Current price for a 'common' plate is around £10 -12 at auction - sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more but rarely over 15 quid hammer price. But I recently saw one lotted with another item go for £50+ and as neither of the items were worth anything like that much I reached my own conclusions about the purchaser.
