I asked this seller what was different abut this coin. His reply was the single word "Hi". Draw your own conclusions.

The reply:

Dear colin_mcleod,

if you look at the listing ( and type it in ebay you will find that it isn't just me selling this. Im proving a point that you can sell anything on here!

Not railway-related but surely this takes the biscuit! An undated 20p coin - on tails side only! It has the date just on the heads side - as they all do. But some mug has been fooled and has already bid for it. You have to laugh ....

The going rate on ebay auctions seems to be around £50 for the real thing, otherwise you can BIN - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20P-COIN-UNDATED-BOTH-SIDES-GENUINE-RARE-MINT-ERROR-20P-COIN-/190628348513?pt=UK_Coins_OtherBritish_RL&hash=item2c6255c261

Strangely for something 'rare' there are several for sale! :O

I understood (maybe wrongly?) that, unlike stamps, errors on coins are worthless.

Undated coins are a major cock up and embarrassment for the mint - I understand that it only ever happened once before in the royal mints entire history. Because of the embarrassment, the mint was offering £50 per undated coin that was returned - maybe that offer still stands hence the ebay price hovering around the £50 mark? At the time it hit the press and got a lot of publicity undated 20p coins were selling on ebay at up to £500!!! And if you were a shop that happened to have a bag of them from the bank for your change...

The FOs are common as muck! It's the SOs & BSOs that might command a premium of sorts!

There was a BSO and a TSO at the exhibition too for the same price. The TSO is sitting in my house now.

Hard to find?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item45fbc3a567

There was one for sale at the Wyre Forest exhibition yesterday, exactly the same, in mint boxed condition for £8.50.

Even a brand new Hornby one is cheaper.

The same seller has another item described as "hard to find" - a length of "vintage" Peco O gauge track! Hard to find? He's got more than 10 available ....

If at first you don't succeed....... looks like this has been in (at least) 3 times in normal auctions starting at £99.99

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-BR-ROD-63897-DETAILED-HEAVY-WEATHERED-SUPER-ITEM-BOXED-/320851309256?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4ab43a72c8

As it hasn't sold (and was never bid on) you now have an opportunity to BIN at £120.00

Want to see one that never that's never given up on!.. Our friend from Cartmel has had this load of c**p up for sale at this ludicrous price for over six years now! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GAIETY-MODELS-GWR-0-6-0-PT-PANNIER-BODY-RARE-VN-MIB-/300604249489?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item45fd68d591

I sold one for £1.50 a while ago.

His listing fees for it must be quite considerable now.

It's been on before, just remember he's the man that can cut an 18" length of track in to a yard length.

OzzyO.

No problem there - just slice it down the middle and join the two ends, and bingo, it's a yard long!

Suitable for monorails only, of course!
