Getting on with the J94 build and its going together well (at the moment) ...l have added some more strengh to the chassis as there were only three spacers to hold it originally and it was a bit flimsy...

Getting on with the J94 build at last, but l am doing things a little bit different this time, l am putting the details on as l go things like lamp irons etc etc, also as the brass in on the thin side so l have added some O gauge bullhead rail underneath the footplate  for extra support ...looking at hundreds of pictures on the web and it seems they were all different in many ways, so as l like small details l will try to put as many extras on my J94 as l can, right or wrong....Hahahahaha  (BTW the body is only placed on for the photo...)

Thanks Bud, Had a great day today l was not going to go to the O gauge club today as l was so hot, but l went after all and was l glad l did a member was thinning out his collection of O gauge kits so l bought a (Meteor Models) LY / LMS / BR 0-6-0 rapid shunter still taped up in the box (wheels included), l know its out of my era and location but the price was a steal, and also l bought an early Bulleid Q1 kit with a resin body and loads of cast parts will take a lot of work to get it built, but l love a challenge....

Hello Bob, We do seem to have a lot in commom both liking Bulleid w/c 34002 'Salisbury' and now Q1s, l have had an idea for ages to scratch build a Q1 and work has now started with lots of research photos and some hand drawn diagrams from fellow RMWebber Malcolm which he kindly sent a while back which were gladly accepted thanks again Malcolm, l bought a very old kit on Friday which has a resin body and lots of badly cast white metal fittings, most of them will go in my scrap box, but chimney, dome, smokebox door, axle boxes etc etc and a nice brass chassis will be used, but the cab and tender will have to be made from brass,

When I can dig it out, I'll look in my L&Y locos book and get you some BR numbers. I can't imagine they lasted too long; possibly early 50's?

The last one was 51537 withdrawn 9/61 from Bank Hall Liverpool.   Several others lasted into the 50's - 51535 9/56, 51536 1/54, 51544 6/59 & 51546 1/59.  Info from Barry Lane's L&YR Locomotives. I'd forgotten that Meteor used to do that kit - I presume that it later went to Fourtrack and now Lanky Kits?  Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Ray.

Have done some more work on my J94 and decided to add some details before soldering it all together and it has been so much easier to get at, just have to be really careful, l love to add as much detail as l can with my locos the more detail the better for me even if its not quite right, l think it adds to a model..
