Thoroughly enjoyed seeing this, it was one of the main reasons for me going to Doncaster today.

Well done to all those involved and I think the quality of work spoke for itself by the number of people who were gathered around it for most of the day, apart from chatting to John early on I didn't get near it until the later part of the afternoon.

Hi,

Just joined today after reading your article in Railway Modeller. I am a complete novice and have just rediscovered an interest in modelling GWR steam, especially West Bromwich town staion as it was in the 1950s.

I have today posted some pictures of the track-bed of the GWR line taken in the 1970s before the Metro was built which may be of interest to your project and possibly some help. Also some pictures of the canals and locks along the BCN, again takenin the early 1970s.

Look forward to seeing your project grow.

First time I've seen photos of the layout in such a complete format, first time for most of us, I suspect - superb guys, just superb!!

From what I heard this morning it was the first time that the team had seen the layout all together. I think the backscene went up a few minutes before the doors opened. Driver training and shunting pole practice were ongoing when I left.

Have just had a look through your photographs Phil. I am now overdosing on maudlin nostalgia. I know the areas you covered so well but had forgotten just how it used to be. Some great images.

First impressions: there is obviously a long way to go for it to be the finished article, however the potential is clearly there and it shows the thought put in at the design stage. What was noticable, was that it was one of the better presented layouts in the show...

Looking forward to seeing it again hopefully in a more complete form at Ally Pally. :good:

Just looked through Phil47gwr 's photo stream, ( https://secure.flick...s/52793272@N03/ ) Andy's cottages appear at https://secure.flickr.com/photos/52793272@N03/8457495513/in/photostream/  in a more modern guise

Thanks for the Photos of BCB, I didn't take a camera. Nice to see Arthur's little tiger-striped loco being put though it's paces. It was stationary all the time that I was in the midst of the "huddle" around the layout.

Thanks also to the Guys for finding time to have a chat. Sorry that I missed Spams, he'd gone walkabout!
