RMweb Premium newbryford Posted July 16, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 16, 2014 Another blue centre headcode 40 nearing completion. I have modified the bottom nose end edges to have the characteristic shape these ones had. 009 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Is that one of the Scottish full headcode conversion from disc? D260-D266 (40060-40066)? The lower edge is a remnant of the end doors. IIRC, only 40060/061 had rounded corner headcode boxes, with the other having square corners. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted July 16, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) It is indeed Mick, 40060 to be precise. I remember doing 40060 from a Jouef model many moons ago It was about then, - early 1980's, that I really started getting into detailing and modifying. In those days, taking a saw to them and removing the water tank was a scary business! Cheers, Mick Edited July 16, 2014 by newbryford

tinsley-toton
Another good reason to do 40060, all the large scale, orange multiple working fittings need to be removed :-)

blueeighties
A tidy workplace is a happy workplace. At least mine is anyways :-wave Yest another trip to Ikea, the paperwork starting to build up in files and folders needed some proper storage to be able to keep on top of it all. So.... 009 by rothburyuk, on Flickr A few more shots of my completed 108. Love working on these units. Nice subtle weathering brings out the excellent detail. 031 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 033 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 027 by rothburyuk, on Flickr The completed 40160. A few more things came to light that needed doing to this beastie, things I initially missed when studying reference pictures. As well as the re shaped nose end base edges, this loco was unique (I think) for it's sub class in having nose end bonnet grab rails added. All of the bogie mounted mu jumper cables and sockets were removed too. I'm really chuffed with the way the domino marker panels have turned out, it's took quite a bit of experimentation to get them right. 025 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 023 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 021 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 019 by rothburyuk, on Flickr
blueeighties
Remember the Scottish observation car a few pages back? Well I managed to completely miss the fact that the nose end indicators had been removed. So, out with the scalpel, wet n dry, and filler. Just started painting the area again today. 006 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Lots of transfers to do today. 002 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Started lining the blue/grey thumper I have just repainted. 001 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Bit of weathering too! 004 by rothburyuk, on Flickr
blueeighties
I took a few hours out this afternoon to get the boards sorted for the diorama/mini test track/whatever that will reside in the workshop. The main boards are Tim Horns handywork, I added the backscenes, and have installed power in the shape of an NCE Pro cab. I will add a facia to the front of the boards once I decide on levels and features. 002 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 006 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 007 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Not quite enough room for 0 gauge.... 009 by rothburyuk, on Flickr More scope with 00  010 by rothburyuk, on Flickr A few shots of a 108 I have just finoshed repainting, detailing and weathering. 021 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 022 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 017 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 016 by rothburyuk, on Flickr
Waverley West
Great stuff as ever, Lee. I like the corridor connections in that last photo. They make a huge difference. What paints did you use on the Scottish observation car? I'm planning on doing one at some stage, probably in the dim and distant future! Cheers Dave
RBE
Great stuff Lee. The weathering you are doing these days is very good. You really seem to have the 40s down. I take it you get a lot of practice with those?

I used Phoenix Precision LNER tourist stock cream and green. The green is not an absolute exact match, I lightened it a little bit with some white. It's turned out near enough!

AngryMeerkat
Hi Lee, I notice you had a 60 in Colas colours in an earlier post, and very nice it looks too! Can I ask what colours you've used for the body, and what transfers it has/will have? I'm thinking of re painting one of my Lima EWS shells into Colas but none of the usual manufacturers list the paint colours. Thanks, Mark
