My detailing/repainting projects

Recommended Posts

Yeah though it sounds like they mucked up. Will ring them in the morning. Couldnt ring them today as they were shut from thurs until tomoz. Thanks for the heads up. I thought it looked wrong as ive had sound kits from them before that fitted straight away. Frustrating as i want to hear it. Once thats fitted itl be sent to yourself for repainting!

Cheers. I am surprised to hear that, Sue at SWD is normally spot on and very attentive. Bear in mind SWD have just done a full Warley weekend, it's a crazy time and easy to have the odd oversight here and there. That's why you won't have been able to get in touch. Don't worry, I know it's frustrating when you want your new sounds, but it will get sorted!

Best,

Lee.

The airbrush see's rather a lot of use these days. It gets cleaned every session, but an ever more sticky trigger warranted further investigation. Stripping everything down to component parts, it's true what they say, a brush can always be cleaner!

Top tip. Do not lose concentration when reassembling, start talking to the Mrs about what's for tea and drop this on the floor. How I found it is a miracle I'm still trying to work out. £9 for a replacement seal 2mm in diameter!!

Destination board change and renumbering for this strangely coloured jobbie.

Still on a Scottish theme.

This is an interesting one. A customer asked me to create a version of 47831, 'Bolton Wanderer'. Normal renumber andrename, until I looked at the photos of no 2 end.It had a very strange oversized markr light panel. This is my sizing mock up made from plasticard.

Wondered why the work, then realised it must be an O gauge one!  The bogie spring mod looks as necessary in either gauge.

Cheers,

26power

After an awful lot of filling, sanding, filling sanding, filling (you get the picture), the big Heljan 26 finally has it's tablet recesses filled, and new doors . As you can see the whole area has now been primed, I'm going to let it dry out completely for a week as shrinkage of the filler and cracking has been a real issue. Fingers crossed everything stays put!

Love the Strathclyde 101, Lee.

It seems every time I come on here to catch up on your progress I see something I want or am planning to do!

Cheers

Dave

You want to try working in here matey......honestly, I tried every excuse under the sun to try and keep that 101 but it wasn't happening! You would think with the volume of work currently being experienced the 'shine' would be starting to wear off, but oh no it bloody isin't

Put the Water trap Before the Quick Release connector then you can use multiple airbrushes with one Water trap.

Pete, you have my apologies....I have just clicked on what you mean and you are absolutely right, thanks for the tip. Don't fully understand when I swap it round I lose air pressure though. Must need a new sealing washer somewhere.

More O gauge work, the bench will need strengthening soon!

At long last, I managed to make cab aerials for the 47. Weathering next.

The 26 now has the cab fronts drilled ready for the twin headlights, and the yellow has been applied. Blue next.

This was a nice one to get in, a rake of HEA hoppers. Built in brass, they came to me pre primed, but it wasn't the right kind of primer. The paint just pulls straight off again. Everything is getting re primed with Phoenix etching primer and re done. Lovely wagons I have to say.

Back to 4mm, more 40's! I normally renumber and repaint these, but this pair just required nameplates and weathering. Nice and straightforward.

Strangely coloured one....

And finally something a bit more modern, Network Rail DVT. I have scratchbuilt a camera out of plasticard for the nose end, and repainted the cab front light units as oer the prototype. Could also do with the grille adding to one of the bodyside doors, and I still have to add the under windscreen 'spoiler'. Not my cup of tea,but looks pretty snazzy.

Certainly reproduces the sound better and more responsive. Are the sounds controlled via notching to some extent?

Morning Rich.

This is just me thrashing it up to 100% and then backing off a bit, repeating, easy to do on the rolling road! I haven't had time to investigate the full feature count of the chip as yet to see if there is any notching.
