DSC_0021 by rothburyuk, on Flickr DSC_0022a by rothburyuk, on Flickr Lee Looking very good, I do doubt the necessity on larger layouts of building plain track and do be careful if using 00SF on plain track when the curves are too tight, gauge widening will be required as with EM & P4 gauges. Certainly building your own turnouts looks much superior to RTR both in using prototypical geometry and if using 00SF(or any other fine scale) with finer flangeways. I for one would in 00SF, EM and P4 gauges use flexitrack wherever possible, unless there are specific reasons or short sections between turnouts and crossings. However for the sadists Peco do these DowMac ? style sleepers and fixings for 00 gauge, where as the C&L and Exactoscale ones are for P4 or EM gauges. The Manchester Model Railway Society have 3 sections on modern track http://www.mmrs.co.uk/technical-articles/modern-permanent-way/ this is section 1. I never knew there were so many variants (and they say chaired track is complicated) Unless you have historical photographic evidence who is to say what is correct. From normal viewing distances its difficult to see what fixings are being used, however the flowing design of both turnouts and crossings do set hand built track apart from the RTR counter parts at normal viewing distances. Good luck

rob D2
It’s amazing how much O gauge you do now lee, Heljan have really kept modern image going after the demise of JLTRT. I almost had a dabble till I realised the 25 doesn’t have a DCC socket....sod that. Anyway best of luck for 2019 !
blueeighties
Shawplan bits and pieces. Some of the Extreme Etchings are rather fiddly, but well worth the work. Busy making a batch of class 56 horn covers up. The mesh pitch is truly microscopic, to exact scale. Even airbrushing, one has to be careful not to vlog the holes up! These have been etch primed prior to painting. DSC_0048 by rothburyuk, on Flickr DSC_0007 by rothburyuk, on Flickr
