blueeighties
The trio of Heljan class 20s that have featured in recent weeks have been finished this afternoon. All fitted with sound, Legomans latest, that very cleverly allows the locos to work in single or paired mode at the flick of a function switch. They sound as good as they look. scots region
Fantastic work Blue, I sometimes think about treating myself to a 'Big 20', maybe if I can afford a garden railway.
7APT7
Hi Lee Great looking Class 20 with the snow ploughs on the front, especially with all the couplings attached, make it look even more real and life like both on the discs and the domino head boards. The weathering on the different shades of Blue on the engine access doors down the sides, looks superb to. Regards Jamie
simon br blue
The 20's look great and the picture of 3 together reminds me of March depot. The faded ends and worn paint looks spot on.
scots region
Hi Blue, sorry if this is nitpicking but as I was looking back over the photos I noticed this odd looking splash on the left hand bufferbeam and just want to know if everything was okay. Class 20 oddity.JPG ScR Hi scots region I picked that up to and then I notice a bit directly under the red light and a bit more on the far corner to, even if it's some running liquid residue in the making of, it still looks authentic, where rain water may gathers when standing still or at some point would turn in to rust, either way... It's genius whether purposely or by chance, looks great Lee you have make a splendid job of them. Regards Jamie
millerhillboy
The choppers look excellent, particularly like the different fonts for the cabside digits and the bodyside fading. Superb work as always, can almost hear them chundering away from these pictures.

blueeighties
Afternoon. Anyone remember this mess that turned up on the workbench? I have also painted in the white 'swoosh' as it covers part of the black numbers on the prototype, not absolutely perfect, but I think you will agree, a slight improvement! blueeighties
Those air pipes look ribbed like vacuum pipes. They should be smooth. Yup. That's what Bachmann package with the 66s, and to be honest in 4mm they are not noticeable unless in very close up images.
blueeighties
superb work and great choice in music playing equipment arcam very smart good British company . Cheers! I have always had Arcam stuff. When I built the workshop I discovered it also made a very good little music room, I purchased a used Delta 290amp and a DVD135 for peanuts compared to the original prices. They sound absolutely superb. I've just managed to pick up a 290p power amp so am looking forward to the improvements that will bring. I have always enjoyed quality sound, and feel blessed I can gave it in the workplace. Certainly beats jobs of old where a rubbish radio was blaring with either football or a dire music station to be forced to listen to all shift....

I've just used a Railmatch grey and it looked a little beige... do you use precision paints as your effort looks spot on. Also i really like the construction transfers you've used... who does them? Cheers Will

Popular Post blueeighties
Well. What truly glorious weather we are blessed with at present Work continues on the bench as always aplenty, but for once I offer a little diversion. Off to my loft...... Basically these days, my loft is a makeshift stockroom. It has been floored, had a bit of insulation added, and has Velux windows and power. I have had a couple of layouts, but they have just been disbanded over the last few years. I miss something to fiddle and play with. Well, as luck would have it, a part built layout has returned to my posession, something a friend and I started a few years ago. I did the trackwork, and he did the scenery, and has made a very good job of it. Inspired by Crianlarich, it consists of a bay platform, and a couple of engineering sidings. The boards are quite narrow, so Ithought if I could get some stock and rubbish currently lting al over the loft ontoshelving mounted on the gable walls, it would open out the space for a good layout run. So..... 20180612_085559 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 20180612_085608 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 20180612_141934 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 20180612_160539 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 20180616_114813 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 20180616_114803 by rothburyuk, on Flickr You can just make out in the next views that the layout sits nicely between the roof supports....the new shelving means that I can run it around the complete area of the loft...which is about 20' long by 10'wide. The temptation is to go full length rakes and mainline, but thinking about it sensibly, having a pair of locos on a 6 coach rake on a nice long run echoes what used to be on the West Highland. The next few photos hopefully give a flavour of what I am aiming for. I have never really 'got' static grass, but these latest experiments have me happy with progress. Looking at the grass in my current local area, I have tried to recreate a slightly sunbleached Summer effect. Lots more work and detailing to do here.
