Seeing the Metal Box Factory on Westerham's photo reminded me of the trip freight that ran from Arbroath to the local Metal Box Co's. factory, (accessed from Elliot Junction), during the late 'sixties/early seventies, now unfortunately just a memory.

However that memory can be recreated easily with my Hunslet and some Vanfits ready to leave Arbroath main yard for its jaunt down to Elliot and into the sidings serving the factory.......

A couple of nice shots in the winter sunshine:-

Not to be confused with the painted numbers applied at Caerphilly a few years earlier, which were painted representations of the number plates complete with edging and Egyptian Serif numbers in yellow.  Some 57xx and 56xx were turned out like this and presumably ran in service until withdrawal without brass plates,

Not all GW number plates were brass, of course, some were cast iron and painted yellow; I think this is connected with wartime austerity restrictions.

XPO showing the remnants of MOY livery, Baccy of course. with my own weathering added to the factory job, standing in the rain at Cwmdimbath; a sheep munches something over on the left and is unimpressed with it, or anything very much come to that...

Water gurgles in gutters and drains, everything drips, and anyone with any sense is indoors.

LBSC (or ex-LBSC) Atlantics at work.

In BR days, 32424, Beachy Head can be seen at the head of a passenger service, probably in the mid-1950s.

LBSC No. 39, La France emerges from the tunnel on a single track diversionary route with a Pullman train for Brighton, probably around 1913 or 1914.
