A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Although I've seen it before that's a cracking video of innocent times and probably happy days in the 50s/60s.

Innocent times indeed - I wonder if you would be allowed to video that many young boys in their trunks and shorts in 2014, and I wonder how many of the boys waiting at the end of the platform and around the crossing gates would be misbehaving themselves nowadays.

This Railway Roundabout video is also very good too, and the first 30 seconds or so actually feature Brent in colour before heading down the Kingsbridge Branch. It might be of interest to thread followers who haven't seen it before:

Edit: Noticed some foreign coaches (circa 1'18) and something very special for T & A around 4 mins in (or near the end!)

(Somebody needs to embed it properly for me)

I was very taken by Andy York's recent photo of Much Murkle with the sky backscene enhancing Nick's superb modelling. His 43xx looks so realistic that using my persuasive manner has got the guv'nor to do me one of 3796.

Thanks Andy !

Nope, can't find it. Looking for the utterly gobsmacked, for once lost for words button.....

Quiet Rob.

Your modelling is going up by leaps and bounds and your DCC controller with sound chip selection is magnificent, chuff chuff noises and narration!!!

:O

Andy is amazing with his work, but Rob it's your flair for putting it all together just right that makes this absolutely top notch. Your work with the ground texture is particularly amazing - just look at that earth!

It's a nice time to be a GWR man on RMweb, there are some extradordinary images coming alive before our eyes. Power to the Great Western!  :superman:

They would only 4uck it up, number on the buffer beam the wrong side and GWR @rse about face etc.

Yes, possibly harsh. There's a good chance they might improve on the five or more features in the photo that are quite wrong for the post-war livery :nono:

On the other hand, the photo does give a rather fine impression of late-twenties appearance (other than the modern lettering on the tanks, of course).

An interesting comparison between old and new Bachmann locos was seen this afternoon.A 43xx running tender first as inspired by Nick's on Much Murkle. The shiny wheels stand out from the earlier production days when modellers weren't as discerning as today.

Like the Manor it would benefit from an upgrade.

Then there's the delightful Bachmann City on the well received last week train of siphons.

A final few today and I think it was Mikkel who previously said that the Bachmann City looked like a brass kit from Finney.High praise indeed and it's a superb model and runner too.

For any one making a uncoupling rod for three links, I find using a pice of the copper tube with a pice of the steel wire crimped in makes a good hook as the steel wire is thinner for the same strength and I find it slips out between the loop and the coupling hook much easier. Handle to taste
