I'll be there with the roundy New Bryford.

I wonder if a certain two of the exhibition committee have recovered from last year's Saturday night yet??   :drink_mini:

Cheers,

Mick

Time to add the layout list

As you can see we have continued the Derby tradition of trying to cover the majority of scales and gauges as well as American and Continental - of course you can't always please everyone but hopefully there's enough here to satisfy 99% of you

Please feel free to add any links to RMweb layout topics or club web sites etc

Also let me know of any errors - it wouldn't be the first time Alex has got something wrong !! :O

Oh!

Sorry I don't know why it's come out in such a long list - it was a word table that I pasted in and the preview looked OK with layout name followed by scale followed by era/area

I don't think an edit will make it look any better . . . . . . .

Looking forward to the show.

It will be Santa Barbara's second outing this yea. At the Alton show in February we had the Surroundtraxx system working with transponding. A few tweeks needed to get smooth transitions between the under board speakers as the train moves through the scenic section.

The volume is all controlled through one dial so we can keep the sound down and adjusted  to suit the ambience of the hall and how busy it is.

CATERING UPDATE

The first year that we went to Moorways, the City Council organised the catering for the public and despite what we told them, they were totally unprepared for the demand and had sold out of filled rolls by about 11.00am. To his credit the bar manager called at Asda on his way home and bought a load more stock so they were better prepared for the Sunday.

However that first time was also the last time that they put on any food as for the next couple of years there was an athletics meeting on at the stadium next door and visitors were able to use the burger bar there - not exactly the best answer and so last year for the first time we were able to provide our own food for the visitors prepared by the daughter in law of one of our club members who has a small cake making business.

This was successful for us and the Council were surprised by the number of Teas and Coffees they sold but of course it is fairly obvious that most visitors want a drink with a meal! We fully expected this arrangement to continue as both the Club and the Council had benefitted.

How wrong could we be - we have just found out that they won't be providing drinks - but they are quite happy for us to do so !!

End result is that there will be catering at the Derby show and it will all be supplied by the Club. I'm not sure if this is due to a change in management or contractor and at the moment it looks like we can't use their bar area to serve from but a tea urn on a table is better than nothing !! Please bear with us if there are any delays or problems - it has all been organised at short notice and has doubled the workload of those dealing with all the preparation of the food and drink. It makes you wonder what they'll throw at us next year - but reading other exhibition topics on here, it seems like many local authority halls have problems like this and in many areas there's no alternative venue so in the words of the poster 'Keep Calm and Carry On'

Just over a week to go . . . . . . . . . . .

well known alcoholic celebration in a brewery!

If you want that you should go to the show at Burton in November as that has the best of both worlds - railways and beer!!

I know what you mean though - it does make you wonder who they are providing their facilities for - after all we're the one's who pay the Council Tax.

To be fair to the Council, I forgot to mention that there should also be the cafe open at the nearby swimming pool for those who want a hot meal - but hopefully you'll all decide to stay with us and have your lunch in the bar area!
