How about 'Plympton-mid-Town' or PMT for short.    If i was to provide a sensible option (which i really struggle to do), i might suggest 'Plympton South Gate'. Not sure why, it just has a ring to it. But that's too sensible so I'm not going to suggest it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

its gonna need some thinking. want to try and encompass the idea thats its a riviera terminus in the name

As layout is now well into the change process the 'grange' that gave the layout part of its name is no longer part of the layout. I'm thinking of renaming the layout.

All suggestions welcome. please let me know you ideas

thanks

To all plympton grange followers and readers.

As you will be aware alot of the feed so far has been to detail what i'm doing to convert the layout from representing a village/small town mainline station in a roundy layout to a riviera mainline terminus station. now that i'm over half way in terms of the modification my thoughts have turned to giving the layout a new name that better reflects the new location being modelled.

thank you to those who have helped with suggestions for a new name.

I would now like to reveal that the layout that was 'Plympton Grange'

has now become.........-->

'PORTHCRESSA-ON-SEA'

Sorry it's upside down. Makes I'd harder. Lol

Can you guess what it is (dan, al and Matt I'm afraid you can't guess as you already know)?

We have a winner. Yes it is a nuclear flask wagon. It's a KUA mod nuclear flask wagon of the type that runs down to devonport dockyard

this weekend i havent had much time for the layout as ive been having to get my classic car ready for mot (new rear shock absorbers).

i have had chance to do a little though. i've painted some of the yard surface to represent a tarmac road going accross the yard so the vehicles can move around in the yard.

to fill in between the rails i have used rails to edge and then filled in between with yard material (very fine ballast)

with a little more work and time the yard will be tidied up so the work seen in the photos above will be finessed. also i will be painting in white lines as well in the yard.

today i had chance to do a bit of work on a project that satan's goldfish gave me inspiration for to go on Warren Lane Exhibition Layout but also for home use as well.

i am trying to achieve this.....

still left is 24 hours drying on the transfers, a layer of dullcote to seal the transfers, then an all over light weather feathering in the data panels

i have an rhtt set kindly made for me by rmwebber class"66" which i have weathered and featured on this feed. i have been pondering how to make the rhtt actually clean the railhead. so as i have a cmx track cleaner i have taken the bold (possibly crazy step given the cost of the cmx) step of deciding to paint it network rail blue so that it looks like and extra big water tank wagon thats been put in the middle of the rhtt. not prototypical but it'll look ok from a distance (the rhttset). this way i'll be able to make track cleaning a scenic running event during a running session and i think its kinda cool that the rhtt set will actually clean the railhead.

in order to paint it i have painted the solid brass of the wagon with phoenix precision paints single pack etch primer. the photos of which can be seen below. the next step which i will post pics of once done is to paint several coats of network rail blue wagon paint onto the cmx. once thats done i'll sand back the paint gently to get a really good surface and then i'll do a couple of coats using my airbrush to get a good finish followed by a weathering to match it in with the rest of the rhtt set.
