Not just a grey shed on a grey day (!) but a brand new building with two legacy locos outside and an old burnt out shed from the site's previous life. One of those scenes that would not look realistic if it was on a layout! Edited December 21, 2023 by ruggedpeak

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted December 27, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 27, 2023 Complete waste of time job last night, booked on Boxing Day to head to hinksey to work a couple of locos back to bescot, was told they were running late so would I mind working them later than planned, not a huge issue but I’m rest day not available today, taxied to hinksey from bescot and sat there until 06:00 before it was discovered that due to an issue on the work site the locos wouldn’t be coming back after all so I ended up coming back home on the train! never noticed until today that the old signal box building in Oxford has been demolished! and a quiet station at 06:30, the voyager back for quite busy though by the time it got to new st next in on Friday conducting biomass trains over the hope valley 14

I didn’t think it would be able to restart but thankfully it dug in and got away nicely once at cowburn it was all down hill from there and it coasted at 60 mph pretty much all the way to dore ad onward to Doncaster without issue had a break there before heading back south with the empties NR 153 Northern units GB 66 doing a run round in the station another passing through wabtec shunter Empties back south Which I took to altrincham where I jumped off and onto another one back north which I took to Sheffield as I was late getting there I managed to call into rails of Sheffield at opening time and picked up a couple of used picture pride display cases for my layout room which was a nice bonus got another conducting job tomorrow to wrap up the year Edited December 30, 2023 by big jim 37

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 1 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 1 Only 2 from today, should have been Stockport to Sheffield but I noticed on RTT that the train was routed over a section I don’t sign, thankfully spotted it before I left home so I made a few phone calls and got it diverted the same way as I’d gone the last 2 days, missing out Stockport, intercepted it at northwich! 150 unit in northwich I didn’t get a pic of my train as it got routed around the back of the platform to let a passenger train pass, I left northwich and hour late but going via northenden-hazel grove instead of Stockport and guide bridge to new mills saved over 40 mins so it was only 20 late at new mills south Jn where it picked up it’s booked route again, by the time we got to Sheffield it was only about 10 late, I got off there and headed back to Stockport and onward to navigation road for my car sheffield Bit of a boring video but it will give you an idea of how long the biomass train is intermodal tomorrow east mids gateway to crewe

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 6 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 6 Light engine move today, bescot to hinksey 730 unit in new st over to bescot for my locos 2 locos in the consist I to hinksey and placed top and tail on a train that’s going out later tonight Then came the problem of getting out of the yard as the road in was under about 4ft of water! had to speak to the signal box to get a block in the mainline to cross over to the opposite side of the main line to exit via the dairy, then the taxi couldn’t get down the main road to the station because that was flooded too, took almost 30 mins to get the 2 mile to the station in the end, thankfully my train was late anyway! chiltern 165 to Marylebone back in the morning shunting in small heath 29
