779 has replaced 743 today

Quote from GB Facebook page

The train will now go in for winter refurbishment and GBRf will be back at the helm in mid-April 2017 hauling this fine train.

Attended a work do in Cardiff last night - was pleased to find the Radisson Blu hotel is right by the railway and our room had a great view of the approaches to Central station. Mostly Arriva Trains Wales Pacers and Sprinters of course but quite a few 66s as well so managed to snap a few..

First photo from the hotel isn't great as the window doesn't open and was a bit grubby but shows what a great view it is.

I managed to sneak off for an hour to the station - Platform 0 has open access and gives a good view of the west end of the station.

A bit later Freightliner 66 564 passed through light engine as 16.00 Aberthaw Power Station to Stoke Gifford. 14.10.16

Complete surprise on 4M00 Mossend-Clitheroe as it's a solid DB Cargo working. Apparently there was a loco shortage north of the border.

Coinciding with my lunch break!

66733 "Cambridge PSB" drawing forward at Horrocksford Junction to reverse back onto the up line before going forward again into Clitheroe Cement Works (not the best angle in bright sunlight)

However, the side on sunshine let me get this weathering reference pic as it proceeds into the works.

post-408-0-42527300-1476900667_thumb.jpg

It later passed my house on the return loaded 6S00 to Mossend.

(and if anyone comments on a GB loco hauling Castle Cement tankers on my layout...........................)

Cheers,

Mick

Another of my terrible gritty urban shed photos...from my car...

66024 sits on the transfer bridges at Swindon , with 2 BYAs in tow, stationary. This is where it often sits for hours when doing the steel train from Wales ( which becomes mini body panels ).

I didn't hang around long, it's not the nicest neibourhood........

Just after this 66955 passed eastbound with a freightliner.

I also noticed the scrap train was in half a mile away at EMR,

So that's as good as gets for scheduled freight to Swindon !post-450-0-74210900-1478543277_thumb.jpeg

Three for the price of one on today's 10.14 Westbury - Eastleigh, passing Mount Pleasant (right time) on the outskirts of Southampton..

DBS 66040 leads two Freightliner classmates. Don't know the middle one but the other is 66560.

Please let me know if you know the identity of the middle loco.
