When I worked at Victoria in the late '60s, there were plenty of Outside Porters, who were unpaid. Each had a uniform and a numbered badge, but their sole income came from generous passengers. So running to meet a train wasn't just about tips, but everything! 1

The smooth road and pavement surfaces are also very significant - all before the days that we have now with the many utilities forever digging and backfilling.... Rugd1022
A dose of rose tinted nostalgia - for the future that never came...! Gandini's incredible Stratos concept of 1970 which evolved very quickly into the Lancia Stratos purpose built rally car. As a kid I honestly thought we'd all be driving around in cars like this come the year 2000... we were robbed! 7

It certainly raises the consideration that cars have, [like Dogs] over the years, developed to become much overweight and bloated, like their owners..... 🥳 Julian Edited October 22, 2022 by jcredfer Too many haves...

If fortune were on my side I'd buy any of the models available but my preferred choice would definitely be an early LP400 with its purity of line etc... One of the things which spurred me on to want a replica was buying this book when it first appeared in '81, the Countach idea had already been around for a decade at the time but it still seemed so exotic and futuristic, as it does even now... I was so besotted with the Countach that I bought another copy later on, it must be the collector in me...!

Most had a custom spaceframe chassis and used the Renault 30 transaxle gearbox, with the capability of taking anything up to quite large American V8s. They really could be wolves in wolves clothing if you wanted (and probably no less temperamental than a real Lamborghini).
great central
Hopefully the link works. G reg Nissan with 12 months MOT sold by Albert Looms in Derby. Looking through the MOT history it's done less than 10k miles in about 15 years. Railway connection is that they broke up quite a number of steam locos back in the day, there was also a MK1 coach body still in maroon in use as an office, I think, for many years. Edit: I've checked the link and it seems to bring up lots of their Facebook photos but without any descriptions. Most vehicles shown are for breaking https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=557477472850463&id=100057646441915&set=a.292385032693043 Edited October 26, 2022 by great central Add last paragraph
