Show us your scratchbuilt building

My second structure, and first scratch-build.  Progress was charted on another thread, so apologies to those who have seen it; nothing new follows. Obviously, the gardens need doing, but the structure itself is complete.  I have found experimenting with downloadable textures and various recycled materials a very satisfying process.

Thank you for your kind comments.

This has had a long gestation.  Started drawing up the buildings in Pagemaker 6.5 some 18 years ago and make some paper mock ups to see how it would all fit together.

Then work and other commitments and a house move intervened, and as they say the years took wings.  Now retired I stated once more a couple of years ago.  With another house move planned, and not knowing what space will be available for the layout, I decided to make individual modules that can be dropped in.

Started with the goods yard to try out techniques with plasticard and weathering.

Then having found out all the pitfalls regarding warping and the like started on the town, here are some more photos.

As there are on average 20 - 40 hours per model I sometimes seek some light relief.  We have miniature Shetland pony called Henry, a character and evil personified.  So when Montys brought out their Shetland casting I just had to make a little diorama for Henry.

Absolutely stunning modelmaking Ollie but Just one criticism if I may. I know it's nothing major but it does stick out like a sore thumb in amongst all that surrounding brilliance.

The stable doors are upside down.

There, I've said it !

Cheers.

Allan

I am currently building a curved retaining wall on my layout using Scalescenes textures and 2 mm thick grey board, although the curved wall is matt photo paper.

The low relief house backs are a standard Scalescenes' kit slightly modified.  More build details can be found on my new layout thread (latest pages).

Regards,

Brian.

I have just caught up with this thread all 32 pages of it.I am astounded at the quality of these models. There are some very talented people on here. I have just scratch built my first building a small pump house for my fuelling point. But after seeing the other models on here I wouldn't dare post a photo. Well done everyone for the inspiration.
