People do realise they used to sell wine by the pint until relatively recently? 

 

It's only pint bottles that are new. Maybe some people like having 500ml rather than 568ml.....

 

 

 

 

Though a bit on the news yesterday morning implied that we don't produce wine bottles in this country, that the EU makers (obviously) only make metric sizes, and the equipment the wineries over there use is designed to use them. Maybe a pint bottle can be made to fit, maybe not. 

 

It'll be interesting to see how much extra UK wine producers are prepared to pay for something a recent survey found only a small percentage of the population give a toss about. 

 

The whole thing is beginning to sound like another sop to the ERG willy wavers....

 

I was under the impression that wine usually comes in 750ml bottles anyhow....

 

Real Brits already drink pints, OF ALE....
