David Todd
Glad to see you back again! Hope you're feeling better. Now you'll have time to spend on your own Electrostar Mal Thanks Mal, is has been 18 months, since I last looked at the Class 170, I chopped up, to covert into an Electrostar 375. no progress, with the exception of purchasing another 2 secondhand 170's, Hope all went to plan dt. Good to see you back Julian Nope, still on the list, admitted to get the chronic pain relieved. Fantastic modeling as always DT. Really enjoyed catching up. Regards Shaun. Thanks Shaun, am reading yours. I'd like to put in a plea not to try modelling that 'mud slide' look. Leave it 2 or 3 years before having another go at that north portal. Go and enjoy yourself around on the seaside of the layout during the next couple of months before autumn. dh Plea away man, Mr Arkytec. Hope you are feeling better now at least we seem to be in for some good weather so you can soak up the sunon the seafront ,layout looking good. Sorry, but listless, lifeless, jaundiced, hot when cold, cold when hot, are some of the symptoms. Brighter days, two of the g/children, here tomorrow till Sunday. Well, the Wagon Lits, sleeper car, had it's final coat of Blue, last Monday night. So, life has slowed for me for awhile, Apart from changing a point motor, due to failed frog switching contact. I have been practicing with various colour scatters and ballast, finishing the two ramps for the north end of platform 2/3. this will be vacuumed up later. have to make the rest of the track circuitry up next. The two ramp's. t's awaiting game. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr by David Todd 2012, on Flickr Picture 829 by David Todd 2012, on Flickr At last, it arrived. jcredfer
That is a very nice surprise. Sorry for not being able to post more frequently on your progress, but I am limited to an iPhone with contact through the phone link. I agree with RasR about the growth on the cut back banking, it will happen quite quickly anyway and will look so much better for the covering. Great pictures as always David!! Thanks for your post's. Had sometime out with my "local G/grandchildren" the last 5. day's. Yesterday, took the opportunity to take the g/son on a hike, over the hill(s) gave me a good excuse to view DP at half a mile,at 280 feet high. Absorbing the view, with the recent tree felling in mind. This was taken, about 3 year's a go. This was taken yesterday. Snofi
was looking at the first two pictures trying to imagine what once was - then got to the 3rd image which makes the whole site so much easier to understand - thanks :-) Is it me or does that say "fish pen" next to the station building? What would that be about? Edited August 18, 2015 by Snofi
David Todd
was looking at the first two pictures trying to imagine what once was - then got to the 3rd image which makes the whole site so much easier to understand - thanks :-) Is it me or does that say "fish pen" next to the station building? What would that be about? The station layout plan is post 1932, I would suspect "The Fish Pen" would be for local caught fish,to be transported to Billingsgate market London. I cannot find any reference to it, so will place it on The Kent History Forum.
jcredfer
Clearly Network Rail have yet to read anything about erosion of de-foliated land, or see News reports of the same, Documentaries of the same, or even misguided politicians who quote truth in error! [Good grief - did I suggest that might even be a possibility!?] Aah well, nothing new there then ........................... apart from dt having to wait 1/2 a decade to see what he can imagine will manage to develop from those denuded slopes ...... David Todd
Thanks for your Like's, what am I doing wrong ? Earlier, this morning I have been experimenting, with Keith's "Full Trees" (click the link,to his website). I don't really want to follow to tree felling route, on the layout, that Network Rail have taken recently at DP. lmsforever
The tunnel mouth photos look extremely realistic but the chap looking downwards with the bar in his hands looks like he is saying" I hope I don't go through the signal cables!"

jcredfer
It rather reminds me of a class of 15/6 year old kids I took for a walk through some countryside, to get some inspiration for Computer work ......... The tunnel mouth photos look extremely realistic but the chap looking downwards with the bar in his hands looks like he is saying" I hope I don't go through the signal cables!" .......... as we crossed a railway line by a country pedestrian way, one of them stood up on a rail and asked ...... "Is this for electric trains?" ....... Upon being asked if he was still here, I was able to confirm to the young chap that it wasn't an electric line ....... I am not really sure he got the logic but the others would be sure to explain it to him later ...... ............................................................................................................................. possibly! .................. shanks522
this is getting really confusing as I don't know whether I am looking at a model or the real thing, I'm sure he does it on purpose to test us, just to check we're paying attention. David Todd
Hi David, this is getting really confusing as I don't know whether I am looking at a model or the real thing, lovey work and pictures, All the best Adrian. Now, now, Adrian, Here, take these tablets'. I'm sure he does it on purpose to test us, just to check we're paying attention. Layout's looking great Mr T. How are the hidden sidings progressing? Graham. I won't ask you all, to sit at the front of the class, there is just no room, at this time. Thanks G. The siding's are on an "open" newly made b/board's,down the other side of the internal garage, they are occupied by various tool's, project's, camera bit's and paperwork. The chap looking in the skip should be saying " I should not have eaten that curry last night!!!" That is how he was, out of the box. A couple of test piece's , first off is Expansion of track, (not that I have had any problem's, in the garage). I now there is some on the market, but wanted to try my own representation, any other thought's are welcome. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr I am not cutting the rail, I have used code 60 rail,(3rd rail conductor), I felt code 100 rail is oversize. I have fitted fine thread as the jumper's, in another photo. AT DP, the rail would span 4. sleeper's, but thought this was a little excessive,on the model so have brought the down to 3. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr Dover Priory. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr Am hoping to continue with St Simons' 3D printed version's,of the following, this afternoon/evening. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr by David Todd 2012, on Flickr
