Some one tapped me on the shoulder at the Great Gathering at the NRM as they recognised me from my videos from my West Country accent! Glad you really like the work I have done! Nearly finished a Collett Goods today and some BR Vent vans. I'm sure some pictures of them will be online in the next few day!
SDJR7F88
The first complete item from the second batch of commissioned stock, the Bachmann Collett Goods in BR Early with ROD tender. When for a well worked look on this one, not over the top. Looking at pictures of the real locos in service and asking around, I found these engines never seemed to get rust, so I made sure I went easy on the rust! I tone down the statin black livery with a generous helping of smoke powder, giving her that well worked look. Now to finish off the three vent vans, before starting on another one of the locos! Please tell me what you think!

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 23, 2014 just need to wash over the bright shiny connecting rods - whenever they manage to make them a colour other than black/brown or silvery steel will be a day closer to weathering sanity. Thanks Barry! Funny you say that, as I just used some of Humbrols new oil wash on them. They look much better now.
SDJR7F88
Was very kindly give a FREE gift today by my good friends at my local model shop, Signals Models, Midsomer Norton (I can't thank then enough) ! This will hopefully come in very handy in speeding up the process on weathering the chassis on locos, which takes many, many hours with powders (I still plan to do the rest of the loco with powders though ). The only problem is I have no idea on where to start or on what blend of paints to use in it to get a nice base colour. Any tips? Here's a picture of the set...

SDJR7F88
Three of the wagons from the second batch now complete! The wagons are 2x Dapol Banana Vans and a Bachmann ex NE Fruit Van. As the usual I used Humbrol weathering powders and a quick spray of Matt Varnish to hold them on! Sorry about the lighting in there shots, it was a bit overcast today. Please tell me what you think!
hornbyandbf3fan
Great job. I think the NE van could do with a bit more of a darkening down, it looks too clean

SDJR7F88
Great job. I think the NE van could do with a bit more of a darkening down, it looks too clean Thanks Will! Glad you like them. Though I would give that one a light covering. It is much darker in the flesh, the camera and lighting like to make certain parts look different to what they do in the flesh! Still looking for the 'Jaw dropped' button! Thanks again Matt! Edited January 29, 2014 by SDJR7F88
