Perhaps a touch of rust on some of the underframe details - problem is that with subtle weathering the camera isn't good at showing it. (Which is why some people use far too bright colours(!)) See this fish van as its got dirt on LMS Maroon -

if you look closely you can just about see the weathering on the van body - it is there! I added some "old" rust (ie a bit darker than the bright orange coloured rust usually seen) on the running gear.

Thanks again Barry. Like you said most of the weathering on that van has not appeared thanks to the lighting and camera. Plus it does not help that it is only lightly weathered in the first place! :jester:

Three of the wagons from the second batch now complete! :locomotive: The wagons are 2x Dapol Banana Vans and a Bachmann ex NE Fruit Van. As the usual I used Humbrol weathering powders and a quick spray of Matt Varnish to hold them on! Sorry about the lighting in there shots, it was a bit overcast today. Please tell me what you think! :paint:

Excellent work Callum, I thought they were O Gauge until I saw the couplings.

Great stuff. :locomotive: :locomotive: :locomotive: :locomotive: :locomotive: :locomotive:

Had a go at airbrushing today for the first time today and I must say I am not impressed with the results. I used Railmatch acrylic Frame Dirt thinned down at first with 50/50 water (it say that the paint is water based). I gave my test loco (an un-finished Dapol 61xx kit) a number of sprays, from all different distances and pressure from the can of air. Every time the results where blobby. So I decided that the paint maybe too thin, so as mixed up another lot, this time 3/4 paint to water. The results where the same. Not sure weather this is me, the basic airbrush or the paint thinned with water. Any help? :help:

Been hard at work weathering another loco from the second batch of commissioned stock today, this time Bachmann Standard 5MT 73109, in BR Early livery. I'm at the half way point with the loco complete. Just the tender and a few finishing touches before she is fully complete. :locomotive: Here are a few pictures of her. Hope you like the work so far! :paint:

Personally feel this is my best results yet! :yahoo:

The Bachmann 5MT is now complete and ready for a test run :locomotive:  (when I clean the layout that is :jester: )! Went for a really well worked looks on her, basing her on colour photographs I have found of her and her sister locos in service. I am very chuff with the results (if you pardon the pun) :locomotive: !

Sadly due to the weather again the light for the pictures is not very good, with some appearing brighter than others and certain details not been picked out.

As always please tell me what you think! :paint:

Nicely done, the only thing that lets it down is the moulded smokebox dart on the loco -  which has nothing to do with you!

Thanks again mate! Yep, nothing to do with me with that one :pardon: ! Glad you like her! I love the effect I got around the smoke box door with the rust around the bottom and ash under it! :locomotive: I hope to achieve this on the next loco! :paint:

In some of the box van pictures you may of spotted a Bachmann Queen Marry Brake Van. This is the same one that was part of the first batch I was ask to weather. The owner was amazed with the overall look of it, but wanted a tiny bit more dirt around the bottom of the bogies. He mentioned when he saw them in service, due to their weight they use get sprayed with mud and dirt when passing over sleeps in yards which lay in puddles.

Here is the finished results with a slightly more muddy look around the bottom. Tell me what you think! :paint:
