Isambard himself was the same http://www.class47.co.uk/UIH/uih_v32.php?icb=1762020018000|f|0|wm_0|3|||j| But different works plates as Crewe built not Brush - and was running for a while with one TTG cab door - Jimbo did that on mine but I wasn't impressed on such a finely named loco and I took it off hee hee Phil

RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted April 8, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 8, 2015 Any new locos Paul?? No buddy, but the 25 I got off Jinty is next on the workbench once I've delved back into the world of n gauge. I've got a 40 an two spare body's, and a 108 to finish weathering and sell. I've got a 47 to but I might just sell that un-weathered not to sure yet. That should raise a few funds along with about 20 or more Peco code 55 large radius turnouts all boxed. So I'll have to get them all on Ebay next week. I wana try an get some done on ELJ to before I get distracted by the 25 Cheers, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted June 7, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 7, 2016 Apologies for not posting for over a year but ELJ, the pending arrival of new bundle of joy and life has just gotten in the way of weathering anything other than a few parcel vans and track of course Anyway I've finally plucked up the courage to tackle this I've made a start on the buffers tonight so I'll get run down of how I've done them on here tomorrow. Sorry for the lack of updates again. Cheers
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted June 8, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 8, 2016 I've just been looking back on this thread and the scary thing is since last posting I'll have to re-wheel everything I've done Well as promised here's how I've weathered the buffers on the 24 so far. First thing I did was paint them using Railmatch roof dirt, weathered black would do but I've ran out, I them gave them a dusting using a mix of light/dark earth and black with a tiny bit of rust in the mix to. Then using a baby bud I've added drop of gloss varnish to the centre of the buffers on top of which I then used a baby bud dipped into a tiny bit of gunmetal blue and black powder and dabbed the centre of the buffer. This gives the oily/greasy look. The pipes were just given a quick coat of the roof dirt then dusted over with brown powder mix. A couple more pics For the tanks I've tried a method mentioned to me a while back, which involved brushing on white spirit then dusting over it with the powder, it then drys sealing the powder in place. I won't have time before work to see if it's worked but I'll update tonight on whether it has or not. Cheers
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted June 8, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 8, 2016 Cracking job Jimbo is heading in the same direction but renumbering to D5007 GFYE - the stripes have to go but are proving recalcitrant.... Guess there are plentiful supplies of baby buds looming in the ELJ household! Phil

Guess there are plentiful supplies of baby buds looming in the ELJ household! Phil Thanks very much Phil an I'm sure there will be a plentiful supply of baby buds I'd love to add a small yellow panel but my experience with this in the past isn't the best so going with the safe option. I must admit I do like the all over green look an I especially think it suits the class 40's but I'm pushing the boundaries of modellers licence on ELJ with this one. Thanks again Phil and looking forward to some pics of your 24 Cheers
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted June 9, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 9, 2016 Got an hour in on the bogies tonight, I've been looking a quite a few photos of these and they all seem to be more dusty with rail grime and brake dust than oily like some locos. Still lots to do but happy with tonight's work. Not the best pics due to the light but hopefully I'll get some natural light shots over the weekend. RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted June 11, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 11, 2016 Got chance to add train crew and weather the body this morning, still needs to be sealed and the wheels still need painting but a good hours work. Also even though it's a dull day the natural light makes a huge difference. Apologies for the amount of photos. Cheers

RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted June 16, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 16, 2016 Any new updates Paul?? Afraid not Neil, it's been a busy few days of putting furniture together I need to get the airbrush working properly again then seal the work so far, I recon it'll be early next week mate. Cheers
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted June 18, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 18, 2016 Early start this morning seen me seal the 24 and the N gauge 108 I'd been working on. The 108 has basically just had the under frame and roof weathered along with some corridor connectors added. It really is a great model considering its N gauge. brgmini
Great job on the 24 . I could see that being a real 'double take model' in the right setting . Who makes the crew figures ? Think they look great cheers , Kev

RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted September 18, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 18, 2016 looking brillant love dirty diesels look like thay have worked hard Thanks mate, nothing better than a work worn diesel! I really need to crack on and add to this thread but with the new arrival and various life getting in the way I've not had much time. I've got two 108's to o but I want to get them re-wheeled first then I can crack on with them Thanks again
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted October 10, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 10, 2016 Not a very good pic but picked this up at the weekend, soon to become the infamous D326! I'm really impressed with it but it's still got that gap, not quite as bad as the older 40's but it's still there. Now the older 40's were pretty easy and straightforward to lower but looking at the at the assembly sheet the bogie pivot plate is different on this one. So having asked a couple of questions on another thread and no responses I'm just going to figure it out myself. It need re-wheeling anyway so I'm going to widen the original wheel set to EM standards to to see if they're any good, hopefully this'll save buying a new wheel set. Now this is something I know people have done with other Bachmann models but not something I've done (hopefully it'll work and I can do the same to other locos in the fleet) so whilst I'm doing this I'll tackle the ride hight. Not quite weathering but that'll be best if the wheels work and I don't knacker the pivots!! Cheers
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted October 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 10, 2016 Hee hee Guess what I grabbed at Great Electric Train Show at weekend? Also to become D326! Going for GFYE how about yours?
