RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 6, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2014 I don't manage to get many photos in natural light so managed to take this pic this morning, I just like the way the sun catches the 'oily' look on the chassis. RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 6, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2014 Well tonight I've finished detailing the n gauge 37 & 47, so when the glue on the pipes are dry I'll give them a slight brush with a bit of weathered black and grease up the buffers but apart from that their more or less done. Cheers, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 6, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2014 Not to sure of the worn look on the steps, might need to tone it down a little? Thoughts an comments welcome as always. Thanks, Paul
Guest bri.s
They look great mate ,but there's something about that 47 it's awesome . Brian Edited May 6, 2014 by bri.s
scouser999
Hi Paul, I agree with you regarding the steps... it is very difficult to add wear n tear detail that is so small in n gauge.. then again, I am viewing your photos in full screen so its magnifying any issues to extreme. Maybe try dry brushing it next time as it deposits less paint? Cheers Steve
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 7, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 7, 2014 Thanks Brian and Steve I'll give the steps a quick toning down tonight whilst greeting the buffers up then their all yours Britain Cheers Paul

bobster
Very nice work on those two Paul - I think the steps stand out a little too much, maybe need a tad dulling down. Cheers, Bob.
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 7, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 7, 2014 Very nice work on those two Paul - I think the steps stand out a little too much, maybe need a tad dulling down. Cheers, Bob. Thanks again Bob Yer I totally agree I've knew they weren't right last night when I did them, an I've been itching to sort it since 4.15 this morning when I got up, so once I've followed the Mrs's orders and dropped off some of the wedding invites I'm straight back home to sort them. Can't lie it's been bothering me all day!! Cheers, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 7, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 7, 2014 Hi, well after beating myself over the head with a sleeper I'm managed to correct my huge error last night, well we learn by our mistakes let's hope I haven't put any new comers to the thread off!! Pics of the finished n gauge 37 and 47 below. Have to admit I've really enjoyed weathering these two, thanks Brian. Thoughts as always guys, more than welcome. RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 9, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Hi guys, here's a link to the green 37, I've sorted the few problems with it, just need to finish the detailing and put the frost grille back on, it fell off yesterday Hope you enjoy the vid, I uploaded it in hd but for some reason the quality is not the best. Guest blue_thunder
Really like these, weathering diesels one of my favourtite aspects, just done a 42 Warship on its last legs so quite severe. I will assume it's the look you are going for but it is quite severe on some of them, prototype pictures vary enormously but I do seem to find generally even on the really dirty ones the yellow ends, on the whole were keep a bit cleaner, assuming for safety. No really a criticism though mate, as i say I love them in this condition. Only thing missing really
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 12, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12, 2014 Hi Blue thunder, glad you like the weathering, as for the yellow ends, I do try and remove a lot of the grime from them not only for a safety reason but to simulate were the headcodes have been washed as mentioned earlier in the thread. But looking at pictures from the 60's the level of dirt on the front ends varied, I've seen some were the yellow is hardly visible to bright and shiny. All these variations in dirt will prob be modelled at some point as my thread progresses. Thanks for looking and for your comments. Many thanks, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 13, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 13, 2014 Well the n gauge 37 and 47 are on their way back home to Barnsley. So what's next? Well I've got a rather clean looking class 40 on BR blue to give a slight weathering to, a scrap line peak to make a start on and two tenders to rust up, I know their not diesels but their part of my layout so I may as well squeeze them in here. I also got my hands on a Lima 08 today for a couple of pounds so think the connecting rods will be getting removed and my spare Bachmann body will be attached, this along with the scrap tenders are something I've been wanting to model for a while. On the n gauge front there is a class 108 dmu coming up to. Don't know how fast I can wade through all these bit hopefully some updates soon. Many thanks, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 16, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2014 Morning all, I made a bit of a start the other day on my br blue class 40, but silly me forgot to take 'before' shots so I took some this morning of what I've done so far, which isn't really much. It's been renumbered and I've started weathering the roof, ignore the headcode discs these are getting replaced with shawplan headcodes which I'm just waiting for the paint to dry on them. Sorry for the quality and lighting in the pics (they seem to give it a reddish tinge) but it was 4.30 in the morning an I was running late for the gym! RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 16, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2014 Cheers Brian, need to start giving them different looks though as I don't want them all looking the same and as D270 was pretty new to blue, being repainted in 1967, I won't be able to have her to dirty Thanks, Paul

Thanks Bob Much appreciated as always, think this one will be a little bit cleaner, although I've just got myself a new light earth/mud powder so I'll have to give it a go on something Many thanks, Paul
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted May 16, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2014 Well after a great night with the kids I've managed to add the shawplan headcode discs, really impressed with them sorry nothing more got done guys and it's nothing to do with the cans of Bud in the background, they belong to the mrs honest Cheers, Paul
