Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s of Ashchurch, at the Dowty Railway Preservation Society, April, 1972. Also that’s a fantastic photo’ of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at Grosmont, with the GNR N2, 1744. In C896, of the rail wheeled lorry, that’s a superb photo’ of it, and I’m sure most modellers would struggle to find anywhere to hide a motor on attempting to motorise a model of it.

The photo’s of coal and alumina trains on the Blyth and Tyne at Winning, are an excellent selection. In C7290, 37200, Alcan from Fort William, on the 28th Dec, 1985, you have a fabulous photo’, and just look at the huge 200 ‘inscribed’, in the filth, on the nose of the 37. It would be great to see an Accurascale 37 so weathered.

That’s a delightful set of photo’s of Arnside, looking at the long viaduct across the Kent estuary on a dull misty day, on the 5th June, 1976. That was, coincidentally, my late Mum’s birthday, so these photo’s are extra special.

In the first one, of a Class 40, on a down goods train, it makes quite a sight, as it crosses the viaduct.

Finally, that’s a great selection of photo’s from around Nottingham Midland station. The first one of a Plasser machine, in January, 1969, is a well composed shot, and shows plenty of interest, including the smoke deflectors underneath the two bracket signals.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

I wouldn't worry Dave, I'm sure you have better things to occupy your time.

If ever any photos need re-posting in future, I'm sure no-one will mind commenting again (gives us all something to do!) 🙂

Might get different answers though...

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of Carlisle in the 1980’s. In the first photo’ of 86239, L S Lowry, on the 23rd October, 1984, you have taken a superb side on portrait shot of the locomotive.

The photo’s of the Blyth and Tyne at Winning are an excellent set. In C6639, of 37059, on a permanent way train, on the 22nd September, 1984, you have a well composed photo’ of both the 37 and it’s train.

That’s a fabulous selection of photo’s of Cramlington, on the ECML between Newcastle and Morpeth. In C15898, at Cramlington North, with 56135, on an up Russell containers train, on the 31st May, 1991, that’s a splendid shot, with the train in the near distance on the embankment.

Finally, the photo’s of Radcliffe on Trent are a superb set. In C4573, of two Class 20’s on a Nottingham to Skegness service, in May, 1979, that’s a great and well composed photo’ of a sight which can no longer be seen.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

I am sure you will have noticed that sometimes I post a batch of photos which have nothing to do with each other yet at other times post a batch all from one place or in the order of  ajourney on the line.  Looking at the photos I shall be reposting on here in the next few months there are a lot of singletons and pairs so quite often I will post a simple batch of photos with nothing in common - in fact as I go through the present batch of photos it will happen more often.

I mention it so that you will know there is a reason.

For today I am finishing with a batch of five photos, the first four are all related, the fifth is not.

Also featuring the Harringworth Viaduct in the background of photos 1 and 4 in the lovely Welland Valley.

So sad to see the destruction at Seaton.

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of the S&D 150, at Shildon, in August, 1975. In C2331, of Hunslet, 2502 7, NCB NE area, on the 24th August, 1975, that’s a superb portrait photo’ of the rear of the locomotive.

The photo’s of Connel Ferry bridge and Oban are a superb set. In the first photo’ of the Connel Ferry bridge, in July, 1974, your Dad has taken an excellent photo’ of it, and I like the reflections of it in the water.

What a lovely selection of photo’s of Pilmoor in 1968, 1975 and 1983. In J4543, of 37134, on an up train of vans, in August, 1975, your Dad has taken a splendid portrait shot of the 37, at speed on the up slow line as it emerges from the bridge.

Finally, the five photo’s of Seaton and Skegby, are all of interest. In the last photo’ at Skegby, of the GNR Leen Valley extension line bridge, in April, 1969, your Dad has taken a well composed photo’, which shows how low the clearance was for double deck buses.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

J1288 certainly worthy of the 'unusual and interesting coaches' topic, I feel a model of that is going in my 'to do' pile.

Excellent as ever Dave, always something interesting.

All the best

James

It was J1601 that drew my attention in this batch, the Midland General Eastern Coach Works-bodied Bristol FLF, with the very early registration 1392 R. I always had a soft spot for the FLF and spent a lot of time riding them to and from school.

No height warnings on the bridge and good driver knowledge, no doubt. Unlike so many today!

Something over 30 years ago, I was chatting to a chap who was a bus garage manager. He referred to his drivers as 'steering-wheel attendants'! And that was then!
