Porcy Mane
Whatever happened to the 47? More intriguingly, why were they there in the first place and why did they end up where they are? I think the 47 went to the Wensleydale Railway. Was once told they belonged to a dentist whose grand plan was to use them on a dining train round the York, Leeds Harrogate loop but don't know if that was based on hearsay & rumour. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 21, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2015 Hi. Here's a bridge which has managed to remain intact over the road from Goodmanham to Market Weighton. The bridge carried the former Market Weighton to Driffield railway over the roadway. The line was closed in the summer of 1965. With regards, Market65.

Raised On Steam
A couple of details of a bridge on the Scotsgap to Rothbury branch. The focus on this one's a bit iffy as the sun was shining on the screen so I was shooting blind.
Porcy Mane
A couple of details of a bridge on the Scotsgap to Rothbury branch. That's a great bridge for testing how waterproof you car is in winter. I've seen water up to six feet deep collected underneath. Fortunately the council provide depth indicators. p Edited August 7, 2015 by Porcy Mane
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted August 12, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 12, 2015 Hi, everyone. Here's a photo' of Pocklington's old station from the York end. The former crossing keeper's cottages are to the left of the photo', with the old station in the middle (now a sports hall), and some more cottages on the right. There was an ex-NER lower quadrant starting signal on the right next to the cottages controlling the departure of trains to York. The line was double track. Billy Flathead
Hi, here are a few photos of Barnsley Court House station which closed in 1960. In the first, the station was on arches which ran in front of the ground floor windows of the old court house building. The light patch in the brick work is where a covered walk way ran from the ticket office down to the station forecourt. The car park was the Great Central goods yard, the Midlands was above on the far side of the station. Cheers David

RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted August 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 16, 2015 From my Aberdeen days. Just north of Aberdeen station, hidden in the undergrowth, is the remains of the turntable. What is unusual is, due to space restriction, the well has been cut into the hillside location with a girder supporting the high level town above. Of course in those days the line could easily have been relaid but as I am sure you know the idiotic councils have approved housing at Stamford Bridge. Here is Londesborough station in summer 78. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted August 18, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 18, 2015 Hi, PinzaC55. Those are very good photo's of the way Londesborough station was in the summer of '78. Although I did not get to see it at the weekend, I believe that the former station house is lived in and well looked after. The new housing for Stamford Bridge is a big blow, and does indeed stop any thoughts of re-opening of the line. With regards, Market65.

PinzaC55
Pocklington station exterior in May 1978. PinzaC55
Yes I hadn't noticed that ! It's interesting to note that the tall thin chimney stack on the right has acquired a chimney pot since 1978 and that the lamp posts and bollards are the same.
