I'm not a lover of strait track and corners, the only Layout I've seen where strait track works is on Tony Wrights Little Bytham, but then it is as per the prototype.

I always try to do transition or revers curves as I did with my Kings Moreton. The only persons on the Platform were 2 Train Spotters. Even the Road along the top of the fields wasn't flat or strait, and no masses of Vehicles.IMG_5123.JPG.96e693686aed8098ea683d22d9d6649a.JPG

Hi Andy,

I do like those graceful curves, they are almost as sublime as the curves displayed by that GILF that Clive was going on about i one of the previous posts !

Thanks Gibbo,

I do think you have described my layout wonderfully. :ok:

Seriously, thank you for your kind words. I still have loads to add, like the point machines, signalling cabinets, and other items of infrastructure. The layout will need to be populated. Loads of platform trollies with parcels and mailbags on them, and a few porters. Some station staff around the ticket barriers, the odd loco crew and couple of guards on the platform, maybe some carriage cleaners having a fag break. Only a few passengers either entering a platform or the last few leaving, some more on the concourse milling around. Trainspotters at a platform end, possibly number 8 as it is the closest to the steam loco sidings. Our intrepid photographer on the end of another platform.

Both loco yards will have a few staff meandering about. I may include a PW gang looking like they are about to start or just finished working, standing clear of the line with their tools in their hands. I think the busiest area for people will be the goods shed, unloading boxes etc from the wagons on to the flat beds of the road motors. The hard part will to get them looking busy but not in action poses.

Edit...Mrs Jones at Number 3 was, the the youngsters say today , quite a bit of a MILF....what ever that means.

Hi Clive,

I hadn't noticed that your loco yards didn't have flank protection, I blame camera angle for my not knowing. You may well have eight platform faces but they must be at least seven feet long so it doesn't count on your railway.

On other matters, does Mrs Jones wear knickers ? Also, I'm almost 50 and the younger end of the MILF envelope are starting to look a bit young even for me these days, watch out for those labelled as GILF though !

Hi Gibbo

The loco yards do have flank protection if the first point on each one is worked (as they are with the model) with the point giving entry into the yards. My question is would they have been, could they have been and if not should I have trap points?

Hi Clive,

The points that you note to be worked as a pair do indeed provide protection as nothing may conflict the path of a running line should it run away from shed, anything that might do runs into the head-shunt spur as it should.

The diagram proves that your track plan isn't actually symmetrical, there is only a turntable on one side of the running lines !!!

I had a bit of a fun run tonight. I don't think I have run my part built (yet another) North London EMUs since I have left the Witham club. Both ran very nicely, they both have Replica powered chassis. After I parked them up in the station I let my two Lima class 117 DMUs have a run coupled together. One will become a Derby suburban. Both power cars needed a good clean before they ran to my liking. One I have never run as I bought it secondhand earlier this year and the other has only had limited usage.  Running the other way was my Wagon-Basher railbus no problems with that. It did look a tad lonely as it crossed all the point work on entering the station.

Before opening the boxes of the little use units I was having a normal session. I was really surprised at how slow and smooth my very old Lima class 27 conversion ran when I backed it down on to a train, as good as the Bachmann Fairburn tank and the Hornby/Bachmann class 37 ( the one I am still modelling). The BRCW Bo-Bo was noisy where the more modern locos were not.

An unwanted f? You should be so lucky.

Today I have been to the heart of M&GNJR country, well just outside Melton Constable. Mrs M has gone an bought another 'orse, a littler one than the big 'orse but one hopefully she can get more riding enjoyment from now the big 'orse is getting old and not so lively.

Now is the time to strike and ask can I have some more toy trains. :locomotive::locomotive:

Hi Clive,

I would suggest that you might make an attempt to finish the ones you've got before acquiring more. Perhaps one of the myriad of Gloucester DMU's within said collection.

My house is indeed made of glass, by all means throw stones !

Finish? Isn't that the language spoken by the people who live between Sweden and Russia?

Look I have a pair of Metro-Vic type 2s I started in 1985 still not completed. They ran with a train for the first time last year, wot more do you want?

By the way I might want to buy some RTR models.....or a kit B16/3 :good: That is the only class of loco I want.

And I bet I still won't complete my models before I am no longer around, but if I have fun in between now and then, great.

All I hope these ladies keep making music, well at least until my hearing totally goes.

Or my eyesight so I can no longer watch the videos.
