RMweb Gold Russ (mines a pint) Posted December 25, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 25, 2014 (edited) Edinburgh was an obvious candidate but so was queen street in Glasgow remember looking at several pics in OPC profile of 26/27s with buses passing over : http://www.eastbank.org.uk/images/Glasgow/BW01.jpgthis probably predates that and obviously the awful event on Monday Edited December 25, 2014 by Russ (mines a pint)

RMweb Premium ColinK Posted December 28, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2014 Does driving the bus count. Went over a railway bridge near Hellifield when a train went underneath - don't think the passengers would be happy if I tried to take a photo.
Guest
Here is one I took earlier: brum001.jpg No trams I'm afraid. Keith I freely admit to knowing sod-all about Birmingham or New Street station, so Keith's pic absolutely fascinates me... I'd never have expected an entire crossroads over a station. Love it. I'd never have expected an entire crossroads over a station. Love it. It's the view looking west from the top of the multi-storey car-park taken late '70s I think The building on the platform on the right is IIRC the LNWR lamp store (with a new top floor added), the only part of the old station to survive the re-building. There is a new two storey railway-related office block there now. Here's a Google view (complete with bus on bridge!) the car park is visible at the bottom: http://goo.gl/maps/dMr79. There are a lot of changes! Even this view is out of date since the rebuilding of the station started (again!) Judge Dread
I always thought that Birmingham New Street railway station was at the bottom of a huge hole in the ground, in years gone by. Now, of course, I realise that the city centre is on a plateau raised above the surrounding country side. Damn clever these Brummies.

RMweb Premium melmerby Posted December 29, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) I always thought that Birmingham New Street railway station was at the bottom of a huge hole in the ground, It is! (Or it seems like it if you are a passenger) Hopefully with a great chunk of the concrete roof replaced by glass it might be a bit brighter. This Google view gives a good impression of the railways (and the bus is almost on the bridge!) http://goo.gl/maps/vbbNk New street track going under the Moor Street track which then dives into a tunnel to get to Snow Hill Park Street goes over one and then under the other. RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted December 29, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2014 Just thought as to why so few photos of the bus crossing the train. Surely the bus should be waiting at the bus stop/car park to provide a connecting service? Or is that just a dream and its already gone!

The track level is similar to the street level at Station Street but quite a bit below that in Stephenson Street The old foot bridge (pre 1960s) across was a good indicator. When you entered from Stephenson St. you went down a few steps and then the bridge went, level, right across the tops of the platforms. When you got to Station St. end you had to go down quite a few steps to street level. There used to be parcel platforms where the vans drove straight in from Station St. Keith Edited December 30, 2014 by melmerby
