200 error on previous attempt with multiple photos. Reported earlier today.

Wanted !!

I have now got to the chassis stage on the A2 and found that about 25 years ago DJH managed to supply 4 x 26mm plain and insulated Driving wheels ,  and for what ever reason they also  include one insulated and one plain 27mm Drivers, all in the original still sealed bag !!

Obviously the 27mm versions are not a lot of good 25 years on.

Has anybody got a spare pair of 26mm Romford drivers with Nickel Silver tyres versions, one in Plain and one Insulated, without the cast balance weights versions please. A good price will be paid for them.

No one seems to sell the Romford or Markits versions at the moment. Wizard are out of the modern version.

Thanks.

Evening Mick, I can't myself supply the wheels you need, but have you looked on Ebay? I just searched using "26mm Romford drivers" and there are quite a few, though you'd probably need to contact the various sellers to check on details such as whether they're insulated or not...

(Apologies if you've already tried that and/or don't want to use that supply!)

I use ebay all the time . The minor problem is I only need two .All on ebay seem to be always sets of six. I doubt if anybody would spilt the sets they are trying to sell off. A couple (I need one insulated and one plain) will turn up, I am in no rush  at the moment.

Good point, about the 6: hadn't thought about that!

Ill have a look through my spares box, Mick. Are the wheels in the kit the version they supplied with bushes, rather than the usual tapped holes for the crankpins?

They are the tapped Nickel Silver rims versions . 26mm 22 spoke. No Balance weights. Thanks for looking.

Might these do? What about the throw compared to the ones in the kit?

Sorry Mick, none in my spares box, all 24mm or Bulleid wheels. Markits wheels are becoming rare even on ebay judging by my last few searches. Rest of build coming along.

Good luck.

Kind regards,

I think I win!

Are these right? The unpainted pair has one balance weight (insulated, if I understand these things) and one not (uninsulated), but the green one would act as an insulated (?) matching pair?

The finish - the lustre - on your locos is always superb, Mick, and the lining is exquisite.

Nothing exciting !!

Army Painter aerosol Matt Varnish on Precision Paints  brush painted and Halfords  Matt Black Aerosol and a lot of masking tape !!

HMRS decals and lining.

Mick,

You've certainly done justice to that kit and that build. Echoing some comments, made above, the finish on that model is lovely and really does highlight the LNER lined apple green livery perfectly.

Kings Cross shed, in the 1920's and 30's must have been quite something to behold with all of that lined apple green, kept immaculately clean!

Regards

Mike

Mick,

Have you weathered over the Army painter varnish yet?   I've had one or two wagons where it's flaked (literally) off when I've put a dirty wash onto it.   It hasn't done it every time by any means, but often enough that I've noticed it's a problem.

JW,

No weathering to be done on the A2 . My Pacifics are always left clean ,as they will lose value if ever sold on IMHO.

I have'nt used the varnish on anything else so far. What does the dirty wash consist off ?. Ta for advice.
