Morning all.

What a great three days. It was lovely to finally meet so many people who have become firm friends via both this forum and Western Thunder. Thank you for your kind words and the encouragement !

The show was exceptional. Not only were the gathered layouts of Iain Rice wonderful to behold but the supporting layouts were tremendous. Adrian, the exhibition manager had done a tremendous job. The club members were lovely, supportive and welcoming.

A great way to finish one's exhibiting year. Not only that but I have two or three tentative invites to shows in the area for next year so it looks like being a busy 2024 !

I'll pop some photos on later but I must now set about unloading Sheep One then orf to work.

Rob.

Another vote here for WWS Static grass and their range of applicators, inspired by the efforts and advice on this thread, I think mine turned out rather well, especially as a first effort.

Blimey, sheep and wolf, sounds a bit dodgy !!!!

Hope he has had a good bowl of grass for breakfast.

I have watched WWS demos on the application of their static grass, so know their technique.

All the best

I had hoped for a convivial meeting with Monsieur Moutton at Stafford show as we have had numerous PM conversations re modelling, life and the universe and are both keen motorcyclists. Plus I wanted to see one of his layouts in action.

However the MemsahibMobile hit a mine and got one of its tracks blown off, so I spent the weekend fixing that ready for Monday morning instead.

I could probably have gone on the B33 or her Speed Twin, but I was likely to have been wandering around dripping wet, plus fixing her car as priority over my entertainment gained an infinite number of brownie points.

Unfortunately I was unable to get down to Stafford to see one of Sheepbloke’s layouts in the flesh*, but will keep my fingers crossed that he has a repeat invite next year and will keep the date free in my diary so I can finally meet the Shepherd himself!

HOURS OF FUN

* Nothing quite so exciting as Mr Wolf’s reason for missing though - I had a singing workshop with the kids for my next show, School of Rock, which landed SPLAT in the middle of the only day I could have attended!

I took the rear brake drum off and the Memsahib said: "Oh bu66er..."

Which pretty much covered it.

I see it's had the Landover brake lubrication system option box ticked. At least it doesn't look like it had the drum frozen on as the LR is want to do after more than a week in place even after applying copper slip...

Yep. That about covers it.

I said something similar when Klementine’s carburettor started leaking fuel out of both ends of the accelerator linkage last week - a part that was replaced just over a year ago and which has done less than 900miles. The supplier blames “the ethanol content of modern fuels”, although I note that the carb in my camper has not been affected in the same way, despite doing considerably less miles…

That's what allegedly non corrosive modern brake fluid does to asbestos free dolphin friendly, gluten free brake shoes. They'd basically dissolved.

A new cylinder and a set of old school Ferodo shoes fitted. The brakes don't squeak now either.

A number of friends who have bikes built in the 80s and 90s have had similar problems with carburettors (and on a "modern" bike it has to be remembered that you take the bike off the carburettors not the carburettors off the bike), blamed on a mixture of standing idle and modern fuels, an overhaul kit is obtained, original parts not being available.

A few months later and the same problem occurs.

Sorry for going OT Rob, hope you're rested up soon and on the go with the next project!

Because you didn't get the vegan option, it might be gluten free but the dairy is what causes damage, quite clearly curdled in your pics.

Steady, I got accused of assorted war crimes last time I had a genuinely good natured swipe at that mob.

Whilst both of us are (very) lapsed vegetarians, we still enjoy vegetarian food quite regularly, but vegan we struggle with.

I was given a vegan panini to sample a while back, or it may have been a secondhand odour eater from a hiking boot.

I did wonder if perhaps I could fashion some front brake pads from it though, don't like to waste anything.

Nothing wrong with a good selection of vegetables for a meal, to me personally being Vegan should be just taking it a step further and eliminating dairy.  But there seems to be a movement of people who want to replicate meat by use of varying amounts of massively processed foodstuffs - it doesn't taste like meat or the original vegetables it came from, it's just nonsense.

It's like here is a beer or a wine but we've removed the alcohol - well as alcohol was the whole point of the beer/wine, this is no longer beer or wine, I'll have a fruit juice please.

Mrs W has a gluten and dairy intolerance, so I've years experience now avoiding both in most meals that she shares with me.  But when I get the chance I do go mad on myself with a nice pizza with lots of meat and cheese.

I can still remember my wife's alarm when we drove from Essex to Penzance in my 1977 LR station wagon back in 1995. The brake pedal was clamped each night to avoid the build up of air in the system and pumping the brakes when needed. It worked fine until we could get home and they could be sorted. Going down steep hills relying on engine braking was also a new experience for her. Her then car was a fiesta, sadly the Landy went when first daughter was born as there was nowhere to put a child seat and I think I had poured enough money into it over the years.

I've since gone soft, need a working heater, demist, and a music system I can hear.

I have just had to say goodbye to a 23 year old motorhome. Damp and corrosion in the chassis meant it was getting too expensive to keep. The sad thing is it was nice to drive, high up light and airy with all the windows. No central locking, proper wind up windows no computer trying to control the engine. It was petrol rather than diesel which meant it was livelier provided you changed down on hills rather than letting it slog like a diesel.

One of my Rice favourites. Would be even better with a backscene and lighting as per his later layouts. Gutted I could seen the layouts in person. Thanks for posting.
