RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted March 24, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2016 Tonight, I have mainly been tampering with buffer stops. Using the venerable PECO jobbies as the base, I have tried to give them a more L&SWR look. I have replaced the buffer beams with a bit of strip wood and added cross bracing. Still to add some strapping on the rear but the old peepers were starting to go so have called it a day. Not withstanding the fact that the buffer stops are for code 100 rail, I am pleasantly surprised by the result. A bit of paint here and there will see a big improvement. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 24, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2016 I think there are two extra clips on these which are added to locate on the rail but are not part of a prototypical version. I remove these, and as long as the stop is glued in place it can perform its function.
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted March 25, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) Thanks Stubbers. Top tip. Verticals duly chopped. Rob. Edited March 25, 2016 by nhy581
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted March 25, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) Superb buffers and they deserve a good strapping.............I think we know who might just appear shortly. All the best for Easter matey. You are making a class job of this 'pod' layout. Phil Edited March 25, 2016 by Mallard60022

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted March 27, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) Not much happening today at Sheep Lane. A study of the resident mineral wagon in quiet repose. Edited March 27, 2016 by nhy581
keefr2
So quiet, you can hear the sheep munching the grass in the background....

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted March 28, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 28, 2016 The Memsahib was not overly impressed with the Mk1 Arbuthnott Research Erection System or A.R.S.E as it is now known. Hastily cobbled when I thought she was in the garden..........ooops! Rob.

Wayne 37901
Hi Rob, Sheep Lane looks a nice little project. I like what you've done with the static grass, I tried that on Dragon Steels but it didn't go too well. Nothing like a layout with some nice rusty 16 toners., now to get a nicely weathered green class 37 (EE type three) hooked up to those. RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted March 28, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 28, 2016 Signing off with a Bagnall. Sheep Lane regular, 47266 dozes after annoying a few mineral wagons. Rob.
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted March 29, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 29, 2016 Tonight I have mainly been pottering about with Sheep Lane. I am in the process of adding the buffer stops before painting and weathering them. Also dabbled with the track work. Here is a cruel close up of a section from one of the sidings. RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted April 2, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2016 Thank you for all the 'likes' and your kind words gentlemen. I feel very humble receiving such plaudits from such illustrious company. I shall do my best to continue in the same vein. Not much to report but a few things pending. Buffers stops need finishing and then to add some detail to the various buildings. I have also bought a few vehicles which will need some toning down. Still thoroughly enjoying this layout. More to follow.... Rob.
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted April 3, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) My apologies chaps, not as comprehensive an update as I would have wished. By way of a partial update I hope the following photos give an idea of a bit more work on the scenery today. Buffer stops are not quite finished as I feel they need a bit more doing to them. I will however leave it for a bit so as not to over egg the pud so to speak. I am now hoping to progress the building side of things this week and looking forward to adding the details. The Austin 7 van belongs to Thomas Charles the local engineer and is a testament to his skills. Rob. Edited April 3, 2016 by nhy581
