Hi Marcus, I have found the relevant notepads now ;-) I will start at the beginning from around the time the Freightliner hauled power station limestone traffic started running from LaFarge Dowlow.

Noted 4 x HHAs at Dowlow along with 1 green Redland PGA from 145xx range noted from Ashbourne main road

Sun 04/04/2004

Same noted as above too far away to ID wagons

Fri 09/07/04 Peak Forest 09.23

66608 + HHAs 370311 / 315 / 310 / 319 + 21 LF PGAs mix of PG012A/12B wagons with 1 PG009A series wagon some white mostly weathered to Eggborough PS

post-6706-0-61614700-1478641459_thumb.jpg

Then a little later at Great Rocks 66610 + 2 PGAs went to Dowlow poss ex Earles Sidings? Caught me out hence through the bushes shot lol! Time 13.00

post-6706-0-53111000-1478641574_thumb.jpg

Then later on 66610 returned with 4 HHAs 3710315+310+319+311 heading back to Earles Sdgs as 6Z51?

Fri 01/10/04 Peak Forest Up Sidings

REDA 14796 still there

Mon 11/10/04 Hope Cement works branch siding

Sun 13/02/05 Peak Forest Up Sidings

Finally got to see complete rake of PGA with HHAs parked up for weekend due to engineering works on line

14812 / 795 / 831 / 836 / 809 / 818 / 784 / 792 / 768 / 760 / 770 / 752 / 773 / 808 / 815 / 811 / 793 / 757 / 794 / 750 / 816 = 21 plus 4 HHAs 370235 / 233 / 001 / 220

The next time I saw FL hauled PGAs in March 2005 it was a rake of VTG wagons the same as those formerly in Brunner Mond pool having been in store then brought back into traffic

14454 / 297 / 453 / 301 / 307 / 294 / 306 / 299 / 275 / 298 / 308 / 266 / 312 / 289 / 297 / 310 / 318 / 455 / 323 / 278 = 20 + 12 unids. I think this VTG rake was hired in to provide cover for the usual rake as by August the LaFarge & HHAs were back...

Fri 05/08/05 PF noted 66551 with 4 HHAs + 20 LF PGAs Dowlow to Eggborough rake

After that the HIAs were coming into traffic and these took over the power station duties IIRC.

Some nice modelling Marcus, both in 4mm and 1:1 scale! Impressive brick work and paving….

I have to confess that I was not aware that the PG012A was used out of Peak Forest, that is very interesting. Thanks for the information and sharing it on here Paul, much appreciated.
That will come in very handy for Part two of our Historical Train Formations guide.
I knew that Redland’s PG013G and self discharge train had been used out of Dowlow but wasn’t aware of the use of PG012As. That’s great!
Nice to see them mixed with some HHAs.

Thanks again.

Hi Grimleygrid, glad to be of help. I never really found out why they used the 4 HHAs in the rake as well they were loaded with limestone just not as much so you could only see the load properly from overhead as in the first photo with much running from side to side on the Peak Dale road overbridge keeping camcorder going, taking photos and writing what numbers I could down lol!

Cheers Paul

PS forgot to add in post last night as I read thru pad noticed that Hanson ex ARC JHAs were also being used from Dove Holes in 2004/05 at times. I can look for numbers and photos...

PPS Other CAIB PGAs 142xx and 147xx series are known to have worked out of Peak in 1998 and then the VTG 147xx ones again with the former Northwich pool wagons in the rake that replaced the LaFarge PGAs for a period as noted in my main posting above.

I have detailed notes from all of my visits to Peak Forest since the mid to late 90s onwards. I really should do a book lol!

We'll no modelling done today as it was definitely playtime as I managed to pick up my RMC JGA's. Unfortunately the wallet got a huge hammering as I also found some rather nice LaFarge JPA's sitting on the shelf in Oakes model shop in Langley Green. With these wagons being regular performers out of Hope it was an opportunity to good to be missed. As well as the stock above I've also acquired my dads rake of Redland hoppers which also made the odd appearance up at Peak Forest. (Don't worry Cav I will still be investing in the Cavlex PGA's)

Here's some pictures of today's operations.

Unless I get distracted (could be difficult  :senile: ) I'll get stuck back into the concrete area around the quarry tomorrow.

Cheers for now

Some great photos there Marcus, you're obviously having fun, and some nice rolling stock too.

I'm bearing all this in mind, and saving up, 'cos I feel a great disruption in the wallet area in the New Year :O

Cheers,

Al.

It looks fab Marcus, I need to start learning to have some "playtime" but find with time so precious when I do get some I feel I should be creative.......lol.

The pics look really good and I'm loving the Sectorisation pics  :sungum: ......takes me back  ;)

Cheers Adrian.

Been waiting so long for those hoppers to appear, having been put back at least three times, I couldn't wait to give them a run out. They've been at the shop waiting for me for over a week but with work I hadn't managed to collect them until today.

Promise I'll get creative again tomorrow

Thanks Al.

Yes my wallet had to go home and lie down after yesterday's little shopping spree.

Of course both the RMC hoppers and the Lafarge tanks will be perfectly at home on Grindleford.

Cheers

Those RMC hoppers look great Marcus. Makes me want to get my N gauge rake built now!!

Also thanks for the support on the Cavalex PGAs!

Cheers Cav. I'm looking forward to seeing your N gauge rake. We'll have to get our heads together when we get our layouts done and do a video charting the progress of a train. Leaving Peak Forest, passing through Bakewell, passing through Millers Dale, passing through Burton on Trent and then the return empties running via Grindleford. Could be a good bit of fun.

Pity nobody's doing a model of the Cemex concrete sleeper works at Washwood Heath.

Have a great weekend mate.

Cheers
