RMweb Gold Derails Models Posted November 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2019 (edited) Indeed! RRP of £159.99, here are some more images to accompany the ones posted by adb968008. To quote Accurascale themselves: "Accurascale's Warley announcement is the impressive KUA, 150-ton, four bogie nuclear flask wagon as part of its growing exciting range of OO gauge rolling stock. These impressive wagons were built by Bombardier/Prorail of Wakefield in 1998 and designed to carry spent nuclear fuel from Royal Navy nuclear submarines from their bases at Devonport and Rosyth to Sellafield for disposal. As well as these bases, the two KUA wagons have travelled extensively across the UK network, reaching Gerogemas Junction at the top of Scotland, to Washwood Heath and Wembley Yard as well as Eastleigh. Accurascale sees the KUA as a suitably impressive wagon to compliment their forthcoming DRS Class 37/6 range. The production run of the wagons will be a small production run due to the limited nature of the prototypes, which were previously considered to be unlikely to appear in ready to run format. When loaded the KUAs are always accompanied by DRS courier coaches carrying elite protection teams – often Royal Marines or similarly trained Army units - and frequently double headed to allow for the failure of a locomotive. The Royal Navy still has numerous retired but fully fuelled nuclear submarines in southern England and Scotland and these wagons are expected to see ongoing use for years to come. Availabile to order both through our selected stockists and online via the Accurascale website. Delivery is due in Q2 (April -June) 2020. Specification: Highly detailed, accurate scale model Factory-fitted detail parts (brake pipes, lamp irons, etc.) Factory-fitted etched metal details where required Factory-fitted pipework Sprung metal buffers Fully detailed under-frame Blackened metal 12mm disc wheels on metal axles, RP25.88 profile sets with 14.4mm back to backs and 26mm over pinpoints NEM coupler pockets fitted on 'kinematic' mounts with narrow tension lock couplers provided Multiple die-cast chassis parts for ideal weight over axles Designed for easy conversion to EM and P4 gauges Length of Wagon, buffer to buffer of 325mm (650mm for the pair of wagons)" Edited November 23, 2019 by Derails Models Added spec sheet 10

No Decorum
£160? That works out at £10 an axle. Not too bad if looked at in a certain way.
Pegleg90
Fantastic announcement, been quietly hoping for these to run on a layout I haven’t built yet! Have to admit though had only thought of getting one wagon rather than 2 but suppose it does make sense to sell them as a pair due to only 2 prototypes out there and have run together!
Dungrange
7 minutes ago, No Decorum said: £160? That works out at £10 an axle. Not too bad if looked at in a certain way. Agreed. Two wagons for that price makes them £80 each and given that these are longer than any coach on the rail network and with the cost of coaches now, they don't seem too bad for a niche model. Of course you need to save your money for KR Models Fell locomotive.
RMweb Gold BMacdermott Posted November 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2019 Hello everyone Congratulations to Accurascale on this announcement and we wish them every success with the project. The vehicle was to be listed in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2019 but was deleted when KR announced their model...although there was some subsequent confusion over which version was intended and was then subsequently withdrawn. You have to be adept at juggling to be a member of The 00 Poll Team!! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team) 1
MRDBLUE17
Hi Accurascale, This is yet another fantastic announcement and at a very good price point for what is really a bespoke wagon. My planned Cumbrian coast layout has been extremely well covered stock wise in the last 2/3 years and this just adds further variety and a wagon I didn’t think would get made. cheers Mark 1
richscylla
Looks great, and this certainly isn't a criticism, but wasn't a wagon very similar to this announced by another retailer recently? Rich

Rich Yes, KR Models. But they have subsequently announced that the project is cancelled.
Hound Dog
Not wanting to knock anything that Accurascale are doings as they are doing a lot of great things ( and I have made purchases accordingly), but for me the Class 37 was the bigger announcement and should have been the show stopper ! KDG
Order placed for the KUA, whilst on the website Mrs KDG copped the transpennine mk5, so order placed for those too. Result.
RMweb Gold McC Posted November 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2019 Our logic hound dog was that we’re already flat out at the show and doing the 37 announcement early gave it time to breath and be responded to online outside of the panic of the weekend 3 2

TangerineWizards
Another excellent announcement. I feel much more confident pre-ordering this from Accurascale than others, given the standards they are setting. When you say this is a limited numbers, does that mean it'll be a limited edition with certificate etc? If (or when) it sells out, are we likely to see a rerun?
