RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted April 26, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 26, 2014 Hi Gang, Well planning has got to floor plan stage ! today say drawing with stands added ready for final drawup and creation of stand listings. A quick total up of the 6 blocks came to 367 stands . I noted at bottom of traders listing tally was 158. Quite a task for an all volunteer show! Hall 5 as ever 22nd and 23rd November 2014, see you there or be square !!! Quite a bit of DCC show you how stuff in the pipeline as well, normal plan with central engine and narrow gauge prototypes for inspiration on display with small traders village and demonstrators to show and tell more. I spent time working out how to squeeze even more seating for visitors around the hall. - rather more seats than a 5 car 221 planned ( dont shout at me! but even I cannot get an HST worth of seats in the hall and have room to move! ) On that topic 4m gangways in most of hall around layout sections, some larger and 3m the smallest. In next few weeks I hope to update with more gen. Robert

Mike
The following has just been posted on Facebook by Warley Club. A WARNING TO ALLOne of the organisers has just (1500 Thursday 31 July) had a phone call from a person with a heavy foreign accent, asking him “whether he was going to the Warley Show and did he need accommodation?”Similar unsolicited calls last year cost some traders a lot of money and no accommodation - don’t become a victim.Warley MRC has not engaged any company to offer accommodation and would advise you all to be wary. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted October 26, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2014 Lancaster (Green Ayre) will be there (Stand E13) for it's first outing as a layout under construction. There will be 6 of the gang there over the weekend and we hope to ahve trains running. I'm working to get Greyhound bridge finished. In effect it will be a big demo but it will be great to ahve the whole layout up and running with most of the stock on it. Jamie
298
I've heard a couple of "rumours" (so feel free to expand and confirm or deny) that...: 1: Layouts will not be allowed to advertise specialist societies by means of openly handing out literature and membership forms- presumably this is to draw a line between layouts, and society stands that rent floor space. 2: Trade purchases must be sold in a bag and with a receipt, again I'm guessing this is to counteract the usual issues of theft from trade stands, but this doesn't cover someone attending as a visitor but bringing a loco along to run on a layout (as I have done in the past). I'm not sure how these will be policed, but try making a case against an over-officious jobsworth NEC security guard, instead of someone who knows about the hobby... RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted October 27, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2014 presumably this is to draw a line between layouts, and society stands that rent floor space Not all Society Stands are charged - as far as I'm aware there is a waiting list for a number of 'free' 6ft stands to promote the Club or Society - for the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association we pay the normal rate but only for our second table - one comes free. Not sure if that applies across the board or if it depends on the amount of 'trading' that takes place - we have strict instructions about what we can and cannot do. . RMweb Gold Huw Griffiths Posted October 27, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 27, 2014 While on the subject of "Warley" 2014, I don't know if any decisions have been made about lunchtime RMweb members' meetings. In previous years, these meetings have been held in Wetherspoons, upstairs from the entrance to NEC Hall 5. I'm not sure - but I'd imagine this choice might have had something to do with the range, quality and price of "malted beverages" on offer. (At this point, I should, perhaps, mention that tea, coffee and hot chocolate are also available.) As for timing, I believe that 1230 and 1300 starts have both been tried over the years. Unless anyone's got better ideas, I'd be inclined to suggest: Wetherspoons (upstairs from the entrance to NEC Hall 5) - 1300 hrs (1 pm). I'll only be at the NEC on the Saturday - and I hope to be able to make the meeting on that day. Huw.
