  1. Bit of an update here on the Hattons' website https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail.aspx?id=565 Cheers, Keith
  2. That 1964 picture of Seaham Harbour looks like a scene from a layout by @Ruston :-) all the best, Keith
  3. This is the thing, I have a Hornby LSWR van and a Kernow one on order, plus Hatton's generic coaches on order and have bought Hornby generics (in LSWR and LBSCR liveries), and similarly Rails' Terrier and Hornby's--they're complementary to me, as a purchaser, and run side-by-side. cheers, Keith
  4. Oh and just to add, there's a picture of 1119 in unlined black in August 1944 in the wonderful album by Bill Hudson, "Along LMS Routes", page 110, on a service leaving Llandudno Junction. By then the chimney definitely looks like the one on the new Bachmann loco, the question is, when did it get it? Before it was repainted black? The caption suggests the repaint was recent when the photograph was taken... Cheers, Keith
  5. This has got me searching through my various LMS books as well as online... So what do folks think of this as a possibility? There's a picture of this loco also in Essery and Jenkinson, vol four, page 74, also in crimson and with a chimney that looks very much like that of the new Bachmann Compound. But otherwise the search goes on... Cheers, Keith
  6. Same here! Boards down but still fiddling with the plan... but scenes like this are inspiration, a crimson 1121, great book too: https://images.app.goo.gl/W8PtA1QvjyLFhQ6x6
  7. Fast forward to 2021... Our time has come! :-) cheers, Keith
  8. Looks superb, I see 1119 was shedded at Crewe North https://shedbashuk.blogspot.com/2013/06/crewe-north-1946-1948.html?m=1 in 1935 and 1939. Don't Bachmann do LMS crimson liveried locos beautifully... Cheers, Keith
  9. I guess I see the announcement in the context of the big pile of stuff due from Bachmann this year, Though I like the look of the Compound... Cheers, Keith
  10. Rails have announced a BH sale too, eg https://railsofsheffield.com/products/38588/Bachmann-32-685sd-oo-gauge-class-45-0-no-45041-royal-tank-regiment-br-blue-diesel-locomotive-regional-exclusive- full listing here: https://railsofsheffield.com/search/bargains cheers, Keith
  11. I've always thought the southern approaches to York would be very modellable for LNER and LMS interests https://davidheyscollection-static.myshopblocks.com/images/cm/7105ebf7baf1a56ca01b516e2921af07.jpg https://davidheyscollection.myshopblocks.com/pages/david-heys-steam-diesel-photo-collection-06-railway-centre-york
  12. To get an idea of scale size I use the historic Ordnance Survey plans on the NLS website and its measuring tool to calculate distances https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16.72813881706846&lat=51.23672&lon=-0.58070&layers=168&b=1 Then a scale conversion. Hope this helps. All the best, Keith
  13. A seventies and eighties focus does it for me, looking forward to this issue dropping through my letterbox. Cheers, Keith

  16. it's a nice looking loco, 'Lion', here in 1930 from Flickr (live link): cheers, Keith
  17. Well how about Tweedale, close to the Madeley branch... https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=52.64414&lon=-2.44132&layers=6&b=1 Cheers, Keith
  18. I always think it's best to look for name inspiration from the localities themselves, the NLS web-map viewer and historic six-inch scale OS maps are handy for this, eg: https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=52.63035&lon=-2.49964&layers=6&b=1 cheers, Keith
  19. This one? Looks fantastic! All the best, Keith
  20. That's right, expected this week at Rails https://railsofsheffield.com/groups/3373/new-from-graham-farish-Bachmann-due-soon- Cheers, Keith
  21. Great shot of the level crossing and is that a Commer van? Very atmospheric! https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/150114-60s-industrial-steam-ie-non-br/&do=findComment&comment=4331667
  22. Mmm yes Bury Bolton Street during an ELR diesel gala is a great spot, gets close to really conjuring up the good old days (70s/early 80s for me) with all the comings and goings and buzz, it's been too long since I was last there for the July diesel gala, so really looking forward to the next time. Cheers, Keith
  23. Not sure it's quite the same but I've gone for this stuff for similar reasons https://www.screwfix.com/p/vitrex-premier-wood-laminate-underlay-boards-5mm-9-76m/68038 though it's quite easily dented and I'm still pondering how best to stick it down, I've actually bought enough for two layers so I can cut sections to build up a track bed. Any thoughts on a suitable adhesive for this sort of stuff? Cheers, Keith
  24. Levisham is pretty special, so too for me is Arley on the SVR, for branch line charm, but so too Rothley, lots of happy memories watching the trains and drinking tea on the platform from the little cafe there. Looking forward to seeing these gems again... Cheers, Keith
  25. Good to see the video, thanks for posting this--I'm not completely taken with the livery, I'd have preferred to see it in Sage Green, but your video has helped a lot in my mulling this one over! all the best, Keith
