  1. not the loop but the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum, always worth dropping in occasionally to see what's passing by, such as this, what a lovely sunrise there was there this morning...
  2. well I really just could not decide, so in the end I have pre-ordered two! cheers, Keith
  3. Great stuff, yes the NER volume is excellent (see but also "Great Northern Railway Engine Sheds: Volume 3: Yorkshire & Lancashire", by Roger Griffiths & John Hooper. cheers, Keith
  4. Great to see early LMS livery covered, there's a lovely double page photograph in the book "LMSR Locomotives 1923-1948", volume 2, by H C Casserley, of 17928, in 1927 at Inverness shed, in this particular livery, for those interested. I wonder if we'll see an early LMS liveried McIntosh 812 class from Rails/Bachmann at some point...? Meanwhile, well done Rapido, delighted to see this announcement. cheers, Keith
  5. Good picture here of D5803 in Feb 1969 at Donny with a 'D' visible: (photo from Flickr, click on image for live link). The 1973 photos I posted above (again from Flickr) have a faint 'D' on 5803 hauling the Worcester-Padd train and a visible but very 'scrubbed' looking 'D' on the OOC image the same year. cheers, Keith
  6. I would love to see the LMS 3-car articulated set produced one day--an interesting thread here: cheers, Keith
  7. For D5803, with BR arrows and GFYE, worth a peruse of includes some good pictures (from Flickr) including: OOC in Aug 1973-- and a Worcester-Padd train also in Aug 1973: (pics embedded from Flickr, click image to see original) Good to see these, looks like my D5803 will be seen in action with the odd Western, Hymek and Warship(?) too :-) cheers, Keith
  8. Well, this news has cheered me up on an otherwise fairly grim February day--GFYE for me :-) and D5803 shedded at Immingham in May 1969, perfect. +1 pre-ordered. cheers, Keith

  10. For Eastleigh I like Steam Town Brew Co--https://steamtown.co.uk/--right by the station. In Dublin, just over the road from Connolly station is the Brew Dock--http://galwaybaybrewery.com/brewdock/ cheers, Keith

  14. what a great shot that is by Geoff--many moons ago he used to be the departmental photographer in the Geography Department at Birmingham University, and the walls on the corridor outside his studio were festooned with his photographs of railways, especially of the Midlands, many of which were published--he is still very active as a photographer, on Flickr, and I remember fondly those far off days 'in the department', impressed by Geoff's photographic skills on display to us undergrads... cheers, Keith

  21. My resting heart rate is usually fifty something but I had a major blood pressure scare about seven years ago when I was hospitalised, it was so high it was off the chart, so BP meds it is, plus cycling. Exercise has staved off diabetes according to my GP. So today was thirty miles around the Ards peninsula and across Strangford Lough on the ferry, nice ride out despite the wind and grey skies. First puncture for ages unfortunately, had to fix it roadside. Anyone else out and about today? cheers, Keith
