  2. It was not a complaint - merely an observation! I'm happy to not carry stuff upstairs! No doubt we'll keep on b8888ring on... Chris
  3. I shall indeed be there with a considerable amount of surplus boxed HO US stock, building kits, track and bits plus some general modelling bits such as point motors etc. I have a lot of stuff I will only sell Face to Face as it is weathered or detailed and I may also have some DCC sound equipped locos or locos with the correct TCS Wowkits (unopened) with them. I understand there is less space than last year so it may be a bit cosy.... Chris H
  4. I posted a couple of adverts for locos yesterday and as of this morning they have not appeared - is a delay normal or have these disappeared for ever? Chris H
  5. That's a shame and I'm sorry for you - I'm amazed there is no public transport between Newport and Monmouth on Sundays but I feel your gripe should be with the local authorities or whoever commissions public transport (?WAG) not the organisers of a weekend event... Chris
  6. Thanks for the comments - yes - the front track will end up at a level crossing on the right end protected by a home signal - that front track will be laid on a board joint Modeltech aligner so a future extension can be added if desired. Footbridge will be lattice so not too overpowering visually but adds another vertical element and view break... Chris
  7. Checking siding lengths before transferring the trackplan to the boards for holes and things...
  8. The yard in the picture went on to be called Redcliffe Goods and lasted until 1962 apparently. This came up on Cronobook - whatever that is - 1955 reportedly. The little Inglenook is still in use on the right..
  9. For reasons I won't bore you with I've been doing a bit of research - I don't if these links have been shared before but they may come in useful...well I'm enjoying them... Chris H
  10. and let's hope the organisers continue their good work. .... I was there for a whole day in 2023 on a stand and although I enjoyed my al fresco lunch it was tolerable all day at least visitors had the option of popping out to enjoy the late Spring sunshine - however in view of the prevailing conditions at the time I did wear shorts....as I do to Railwells (and quite a few the venues these days) whatever the weather forecast..... My Railex 2023 album is here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/103471893@N02/albums/72177720308616327/ Chris H
  11. I did look into it at the time but being a simple soul I found the axle/wheel arrangements a little complicated .....
  12. You not wrong but even with the correct B2Bs my Hornby 31s had sufficiently floaty and wide wheels to cause a short which was usually only detectable because a sound fitted loco would cut out - momentary - but there. I kept the track - I'm on my third layout with Peco BH - and the 31s went to Liverpool....to the late lamented Hattons.... Chris

  14. But my "go to" is my SLW 24.........just saying....
  15. I know I'm going to cop some flak here.....but when I'm exhibiting fidelity can come second to reliablity and simplicity....and I own and use locos from both B & A....
  16. Just caught up since late January - cracking pictures Jim - very much appreciated. ChrisH
  17. The main road to the left of the picture is called Pile Street - a suitable name for the new layout I think.... A slightly later photo which popped up on Facebook courtesy of a Nick Howes also shows the triangular area between the street and the railway has been cleared and developed as a GWR goods yard. Users include Baldwin's Coal and Cooper Bros Fruit and Potato merchants...
