  1. Model Junction in Slough have a good stock of pre-owned as well - just got a CSX MP15DC and matching shorty caboose (rude not to..) If you can get into the shop they have masses of scenery, building and detailing stuff.
  2. My CF7 now very lightly weathered - all the prototype fots I have found show it is kept in very good condition
  3. Certainly looking forward to this show - we usually manage to combine a weekend away "up north" in York over Easter with a free day so I can indulge myself - last year I even ended up popping back in on the Monday morning and buying a Sutton Class 24...
  4. Thanks - I did have a bit of websearch and all seemed well normally.
  5. I've just taken delivery of an Athearn RTR SD39 with sound and my NCE can not read the decoder. Am I unique? I should say I'm also in correspondence with the US vendor about the very poor running. The whole thing was effectively seized and no amount of running in will produce smooth running at slow speed - essential on our small UK based layouts! A great shame as most other US stuff is very good indeed...
  6. A source of considerable information and background for aspiring US modellers - I've just lent my old file of "kept" articles to a mate who is considering a bit of US HO modelling - a great combination of prototype inspiration and modelling articles.
  7. I don't have direct experience of the track/loco combination but the early Bachmann and Athearn running qualities - even the "Blue Box" locos - seduced me away from 1980s BR to USA HO so I suspect you will be OK.
  8. I am genuinely interested in knowing what it is for.. if you can elucidate?
  9. Can anyone explain the purpose of the sticky out stick at the front? Picture was taken on 6 March - a Bristol to Reading service according to RTT
  10. Just thought I'd re-post this one...looking forward to my second soon...
  11. With better weather ahead, attention turns to track renewal at Seaward Way Crossing. A small correction to the alignment is required. On Tuesday 6 March 2018, Seaward Way will be blocked from 9.15am until completion of the works due to finish by lunch on Friday 9 March 2018. from: https://www.facebook.com/WSRInfra
  12. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=059ICgAAQBAJ&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=LOndon%27s+Railways+1967+77&source=bl&ots=T-uNcmLEII&sig=5rNSNERVoXW8kPC8CKB_5lOjVbs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwimj4D64dXZAhVCCcAKHVi0BBMQ6AEINjAC#v=onepage&q=LOndon%27s%20Railways%201967%2077&f=false Looks black and white - but interesting
  13. I have had this in the "to do" box for a while - all this chat prompted me to give it a test run and then accidentally order the appropriate TCS Wowkit sound decoder....I shall be weathering it shortly...
  14. As a subscriber to the mailed version can I assume my copy is snowed in somewhere? Chris
  15. It looks like there are a number of good suppliers. Personally speaking - I am delighted with my G&H boards and may well use them again for another project (USA HO) The kits I had went together really well and were just what I needed. ATB Chris
  16. As promised here are some photos of progress on my G&H based layout.
  17. Mr Beale has been spotted at various local shows attempting to do things to ( I think) Hornby toads...I don't think I ever saw anything actually happen....too much punter interference I expect but no doubt 261 will reveal all...
  18. Presumably they will get a nickname - Can I suggest "Cucumbers" - as they are green and be bought as halves if required....
  19. But they are whizzing around the network - this was one at Keynsham on 23 February - it was scheduled to stop but did not.
  20. What a fantastic set of pictures
