halfwit: I rather enjoyed watching the DCC one I borrowed off of Natalie last year, hence getting these.

The wagon ones are good (although I don't agree with Rice on some points), as are the landscape ones. Weathering and Painting and Lining are good apart from Wright's contribution (why?).

    4. Kelly

      Kelly

halfwit: I'll find out for myself when I get around to watching them :)

  2. i had 7-8 hours sleep, but feel even more tired than i did last night. i hate my body on mornings like this. Time for tea and porridge...

I agree with Halfwit - I started this last year after I was made redundant and a lack of disposable income does focus the mind! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/28941-class-47-underframes/

Coombe: Could well be best starting option, plenty of free cardboard in Tesco :D

Captain Kernow: Thanks for that, that sounds like an interesting thing to check out.

Ozzyo: They were big 1/48 scale kits that simply I wasn't going to make, and some of them were collectable, and the sad fact was I needed the money pretty badly :( - I also didn't have the space to build/display them.

I may well get a 1/48 scale Harrier and Lightning at a later date for di...

Thanks Kelly! Didn't get there this year so your shots help give an excellent flavour of the show.

      Huw Griffiths

I was there on Saturday - and was rather tired when I was looking round.

The photos will serve as a useful reminder.

      Mnay thanks.

  4. Is there nothing nicer than the purr of a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine flying by? (been watching a documentary on Battle Of Britain on Military History channel)

SEF will probably be at Alexandra Palace in a few weeks time.

    3. Kelly

      Kelly

Colin: yes, I just checked, they will be there. They're always friendly and great to have a chat to, they even remembered me and asked after me whenever Natalie saw them, even though I'd not been to exhibitions for over 5 years! Always make a point of going and having a chat with them at shows if they're there.

    4. ColinW

      ColinW

We had Dave and Mick and the SEF stand at Tonbridge yesterday, and yes they are always happy to meet and remember people they mmet at exhibitions.

  6. Think I've gotten the wordpress blog set up how I want it finally. Added some more posts there today too.

      The Nth Degree

The mechanic at my local garage is very much into the V Force aircraft. He has a couple hanging from the garage ceiling! I think he has a Spitfire or Hurricane too.

    4. Kelly

      Kelly

Bangor Lad - thanks :) yes Motorhead/ACDC/et al get my vote too! :) ; The Nth Degree - I've never liked the idea of hanging them from the ceiling, knowing my luck i'd stab an eye out on the refueling probe. Think I'll go the diorama route, as it gives me an excuse to also module the ground support equipment too :)

  9. Enjoyed the right track dvd. Now understand about soldering a little better than i did before, and wanting to give it a try soon. Also, 'The tube' on BBC2 was good.

And as for the Tube - surely one of them is dead and the other one is now a dull mainsteam piano plonker?

    4. Kelly

      Kelly

halfwit - Part 1 doesn't. IIRC Part 2 (which I've yet to watch) does, but the Alan Gibson 4F featured has a etched body, the others have white metal bodies (SEF 61xx, DJH A2). Also, wrong tube ;)

I was suffering from frequent headaches over the past few days as well. Not sure what exactly may have been the cause, but drinking more water may have helped as I'm feeling much better today.

  11. 25w soldering iron ordered, now just to order needed solder/flux and a suitable starting kit

Carrs 145 and 188 solder will do fine, plus their Red, Yellow and Green label fluxes. Also RS multicore solder. That's all I use, anyway.

      Horsetan

      How about chocolate hot-cross buns?

  13. Nottingham yesterday was good. Enjoyed the show a lot. Utterly exhausted still from it though. Lots of photos to sort through. Looking forward to Ally Pally next Sunday now.

Pete: my primary interest tends to be history anyhow, so researching and learning about things is never bad in my view. Just one of these days a layout idea might become a physical reality!

As if I'd waste time with a telly ;) I'd far rather sit down with a cuppa and a book ;) the drinks cabinet was always safe as were the two tellys.

  17. Today I should of been going to the Midlands Goth Festival, instead I've been unable to due to feeling too exhausted and too much pain :( i've spent the time resting and reading the brm annual instead though, so not entirely wasted...

      Kev_Lewis

Oh no! That's a shame. I hear that Inkubus Sukkubus are playing there this year.

    2. Kelly

      Kelly

Kev - Yes they are, and the people organising it are friends of mine. Feel rather annoyed that I'm not well enough. I saw Ink Sukk last October though at least.

    3. Kev_Lewis

      Kev_Lewis

Ah, lucky you. I've been wanting to see them for a while. They don't seem to play many gig though. Hope you feel better soon.

Yep, pretty much what I am doing really. It's all you can ever do really. Plenty of good times tho.

  20. Slowly unpackin boxes after moving home.. going to take months to sort! I want to create jewellery (or models) and can't with no room for workbench and everything boxed still

    1. class"66"

      class"66"

      No the feeling!!

    2. petethemole

      petethemole

If you sort out the workbench/space, tools and materials first, the rest will stay boxed while you create. But will it matter?

    3. bécasse

      bécasse

Moved from the UK two and a half years ago and the bulk of my magazine archive is still unsorted in the removal firm's boxes. However, I have managed to build and exhibit a layout this year (see Fakeham Tiles Ltd in gallery), so perhaps I am getting my priorities right.

  21. time for tea and that cheese toastie, got side tracked... then photo sorting!

    1. aberdare

      aberdare

LoL, I looked up LUG as I thought it might be a Lupus thing as my wife has Lupus/Fybromyalgia, but should have clicked with the "geeky"...

  24. Put petrol in car and got snack food/sarnies for tomorrow. Hopefully weather will be as good as today, but perhaps hopefully a touch on the cooler side with nice breeze! exhausted now...
