  1. Thanks for that. Yes I saw the pictures of it when it was in MR. Cracking work. Perhaps a bit beyond my abilities at present I think. But certainly inspirational! Thanks, will have a look.
  2. The plan for all layout ideas is that DCC will be the plan from the start. The initial cost is higher, but the ease of wiring, and the simplicity and much better ability to operate wins it for me. Being able to control the layout with a computer running software like JMRI or similar appeals [...] Source
  3. When originally planning about 5-10 years ago a layout based around the Bricklayer’s Arms area of South London (an idea that might be re-visited at some point, it just became too complex an idea to ever go beyond planning for us both sadly, but the research was fun!!) we (Natalie and myself) were going to [...] Source
  4. i had 7-8 hours sleep, but feel even more tired than i did last night. i hate my body on mornings like this. Time for tea and porridge...

That's only 'cos you didn't talk nicely to it.

  5. Love the videos. Will hopefully be at Ally Pally and will look out for it there.
  6. Great work. I used to subscribe to SAMI and other similar titles, the items featured in the US title Finescale Modeller were often stunning, but it got too costly to keep buying it I found sadly due to having to stop working. I'm planning on turning a few of the old Airfix/Dapol WC/BoBs into scrap locos, but not to the level you've done, as the plan is they'll form part of a train load bound for the scrapyard, so scavenged for spares perhaps, but not as rusty I'd think. Good inspiration here though!
  7. So today has been a bit of a slow week. Monday my best friend Natalie popped over and we discussed West Cromwell Road and the plans there of. We also watched on of the Model Rail DVDs (loco detailing iirc), which I found quite good, though it felt a little short, but that might just [...] Source
  8. Loving some of the livery photoshop jobs on this thread. I think though with my love of aviation, and especially Vulcan XH558, the Vulcan photoshop image gets my vote!
  9. A mix of Velvet Revolver, Viking Skull, AC/DC, Triggerfinger and of course Motorhead

The cad models certainly do look very nice. Can't wait to see it in the flesh (er, plastic I mean?)
  11. 4 Right Track dvds just turned up, I only ordered them yesterday afternoon! wow, hows that for great speedy service!

halfwit: I rather enjoyed watching the DCC one I borrowed off of Natalie last year, hence getting these.

The wagon ones are good (although I don't agree with Rice on some points), as are the landscape ones. Weathering and Painting and Lining are good apart from Wright's contribution (why?).

  12. feeling so worn out today, managed to sort all of the photos before getting an early night last night though, now to upload Barrow Hill/MRL and Warley photos... someone get me sugar!!

  13. These look very nice, looking forward to seeing more of them am going to be needing warflats an warwells at some stage for one of the plans i have.
  14. Oh I plan to build them. Its more wondering what to do with the loco kits really.
  15. time for tea and that cheese toastie, got side tracked... then photo sorting!

drinking tea isn't constructive?? since when! it is constructive in that it wakes me up and keeps me going! ;)

  16. Thats me done for the day, washing, food shopping, bins... cheese 'n tomato toastie and a large mug of earl grey needed!

  17. So I have a small number of Dapol/Airfix plastic kits. One of a BoB, a few of mineral wagons, some tank wagons and other assorted ones. Think theres a Schools in there somewhere too. The BoB isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Hornby's current model, but I had the thought that it could well be usable to make up as a loco being taken to scrap without connecting rods and other bits. Could be an interesting challenge to model. It would also be just in the right era too for the Chilmark inspired layout. A train of a few old locos destined to become tincans trundling past forelornly could work out well perhaps? First I'll get on with building the Parkside CCT vans I have though. Before that I need tea!
  18. Interestingly, D827, which I intend to model, seems was named after HMS Kelly (itself named after Admiral Kelly). HMS Kelly only survived '37-'41, so even shorter life to name a loco after. However, the reason they chose it might have to do with Lord Mountbatten serving on her perhaps. Am rather liking the look of the etches, will be getting a couple of sets sometime I think. I spoke with Shawplan at the Leamington show and he said there are plans for the side louves and glazing at some stage (two of the biggest other areas i dislike about the body).
  19. It does make a huge difference to some already outstanding models
  20. Had a good afternoon/evening yesterday with Natalie visiting. Now for more tea, and to head out and get essentials, etc. Later I might try to clear space and build one of the pile of kits...

      Good to see you back.

  21. Looks really nice I've an old Mainline one I need to get around to redoing as one of the LU L9x ones sometime.
  22. Yes it does make me sleep longer, but logner I'm on it, seems to wear off a bit more. I'm prone to severe depression and suicidal thoughts in recent years geneally anyhow, so hard to tell if the Gabapentin is causing that or the fibromyalgia is. Part of the trouble with complex conditions, never know sometimes whether side effects or symptom! I've been gradually slowly increasing the dosage over time sicne November however, so it may be that thats eased some of the side effects. Likelihood is that the dosage will continue to increase over time till it gets to the point it doesn't work. Then I'll have to pester my GP for Lyrica. By trying to take it easier atm, I'm hoping the current 'flare' will ease a bit and I'll be in less pain. But new medications and better management (and trying to sleep better too) alll help. It is unfortuately a difficult balance to get right.
