  1. Clive I might have a spare pony for the 8f which I think is the same part. Mark
  2. Brian, the caprotti valve gear was a spare from DJH. I had a duke of Gloucester kit with missing parts so I got the spares for it. Then the person who use to have the kit ( I bought of him) said that he had some parts for it in a little box and sure enough it was the parts I needed. I have been looking into getting some parts made for the black 5 conversion to make it easy to build. That's still being worked on. I have been building a Djh black 5 for a club member and I am building a comet caprotti black 5 for another club member so I have a few models to get on with plus another conversion of a Hornby black 5 to one of the high running plate caprotti one when I get it from the gent. I have been busy with other things, But one issue I had to deal with is. I have my exhibition layout Bucks Lane at the club rooms and once a month they have an open day. But some times I couldn't get down to run the layout and on one of them open days I forgot to remove the stock ( I always take it off now) and I left a kit built loco on the front of the layout ( Alan Gibson 7f Austin seven) which I built some time ago. Some one wanted it more than me and stole it from the layout but not just mine had gone about 3 other locos from the club layout as well. The locos had been insured by the club room and we have had to clam off the insurance but that was a set back and a lesson learned. We have now fitted CCTV in the club rooms and it has taught us a very expensive lesson. But it has pi##ed me and some of the club members off why do people do this, what caused them to do that. Rant over now sorry.
  3. It was find mr Delamar today and yesterday. But today was insane it was a GBRF diesel gala at Horrocksford. 4M00 into sidings then light loco in the sidings after Moo. Then michel yinging past the box on the clay tanks.
  4. I did spot Michel today and also yesterday on the 6M90
  5. I have the 0-6-0 type (the one in the 1st page of this) and I have done a comet 2-10-0 on it and a agw Austin seven and both of them went on the jig with no problems, and they are both true and square. For rivet's I have never got the hang of them I make them to tight or damage the motion ( heavy handed lol) so I use brass pins from hobby craft. They come as 0.65mm x 20mm and you get around 400 in a pack. All the motion I have built (including Geouge Stevenson valve gear) have all used the pin method. Mark
  6. I've built 3 comet 3f chassis plus around 17 more chassis and I have found the poppy jig easy and the best I have used. Non of the chassis have had any problems in running or setting them up. Here is a pic of the jig with the comet caprotti black 5 on it, Mark
  7. I got one of them Motor/gearboxes when Geoff first brought them out to go in my brit ( Comet chassis on a Hornby body) and it runs smooth and can pull a house down. Mark
  8. I use the Poppy jig, and I have built over 20 loco chassis with it from Alan Gibson, Djh, London Road to name a few. I'm just building another comet caprotti black 5 (number 4) and before I got the poppy jig I struggled getting the chassis right. I spoke to you Tony at Wigan about 2 years ago about this jig and you spoke very highly of it so thank you Tony for the help and advise you gave me at Wigan and at Bristol this year. Here is a pic of the jig with the comet chassis on. Mark
  9. We missed each other again mr Jim. I’m at Horrocksford Thursday Friday and Saturday nights.
  10. I don't let you go until the other train is out of section from daisy ( all greens )
  11. Its a b####r when they slip and we give the train a full run clearing all the signals ( clear run policy) but the trees need cutting back
  12. Hi Ian, I would love a work area like that. I'm thinking of locos I could build if I had that. Mark
  13. Hi Andy, Hope you are ok, Just trying to catch up on here and you look like you are enjoying the 0 gauge more than the 00 ones. I have not been on here or rmweb for a while because of life getting in the way. This might of been asked earlier if it has then I am sorry but why did you go for the scale change. Mark
  14. The wear on handbrake ratchets is very rare now. I have been a mechanic for 20 years working for Landover, Vauxhall and Toyota and in that time I have seen the p38 range rovers recalled for handbrake problems ( if you slam the door on a p38 the hand brake would drop due to poor ratchets). Going back to the reason for this topic the Yaris has cables and if one snaps then the other one will still hold but as Ohmisterporter says the travel will be greater because one has snapped or the other thing I've seen is the circlip on the cable to the calliper or drum (depends on year of car ) has come off /broke off. Hope you get it sorted Mark
  15. Hi Mike, I am waiting for some bits for you. I will ring you today or tomorrow. Mark

  21. Thank you I didn't know it was like that, I am modelling the north west and all I know is there was a royal train what was pulled by a pair of black 5s then it was stabled at the disused delph line. Thanks again. Mark
  22. Hi and help!, I'm wanting to model the Royal train in the 1960's but I cannot find any pics or information on what it looked like. If anyone has any information, what stock it was or pictures I would be great full. Mark Towers
