  1. No idea of the condition but know it - the best user of this tecnique I knew was Dad - he basically picked up a book and ZZZ leading to a shout on one occasion from my niece "Grandads gone to sleep" when he was reading to her. We all of course laughed.
  2. The more you read ... does 25 blogs per page x the number of pages equate to book reading? If so then ERs are all avid readers. Books - on the move many trips were made to a local charity bookshop so probably down to hundreds now but, not read many of late.
  3. Derbyshire news today has a case where DNA had to be used to ID the dead person - person who live in flat below had complained to the council about flies even after doing a thorough 'spring clean' of her own house. Police had to break in and found him in the bathroom ... staet will probably be similar to how you found ...
  4. Most definitely agree with this one - annoyed me when at work - take a box, flattened (and with tape removed) to find the bin 'full'. and then spend a minute or few taking them out and re-fitting. If the originator had folded the total time taken to do the folding would be less than me having to put mine down, remove said box or boxes, fold and then put all in the recycling bin - totally agree with your rant Polybear.
  5. Just a thought - what are their thoughts on space exploration?
  6. But the flip[pant has brought out why the additional costs seem to be so high ... in other words some of us have leant something tonight.
  7. SWMBO hates Henry. Says it has a very good suction but is difficult to drag around so while some other family members have them there is no way one will be here. Have had Dysons but ... spares. We have a Shark - quite heavy but the cleaning part can be detached for thinga like stairs and we have found it pretty good. Someone was talking about buying a battery one but as I see them they do not work for very long before needing a recharge and if you use the 'proper full' suck they apparently run out in no time. Reading aboout fans ... in previous years SWMBO would have fans going for long periods of time ... we have not yet used a fan inspite of the high temperatures but we did close windows and curtains opening at night and while the Rxxxxx Rxxm was 35oC plus downstiarswas cool. Today was a surprise - we had a fairly large pile of rubble that needed shifting. Needed to use a little it of it elsewhere so sifted to get rid of the accumulated soil and small bits ... found some strong plastic bags and come afternoon the. whole pile was cleared and ready to take to the tip (oops recycling centre) and then the shed was pushed back onto its extended base ... few brownie points earned.
  8. Well, I have had a reply asking for more information. The tone suggests that the garage is at fault whereas the problem is a manufacturing/design fault if something so 'simple' can not be easily fixed. We will see what they say next.
  9. Having some work done on the garage -builder gave up around midday as his cutters kept overheating. Then 'heavy' rain hooray ... yes but just about a minute later gone and instantly dried up on all pathways and patio. Temperature in R...... room reached 35oC. (I see we no longer have acess to superscript). Have sent a complaint to Pxxxxxx re; a non-functioning LED in indicator tell-tale (minor fault on MOT) that cannot be replaced, requires a complete new control unit approx £1000 plus ... obviously very environmentally friendly and obviously we will continue with frustration as the indicator itself works because that sort of expenditure is definitely not vfm on a car that is not in any sense old - 68 reg. Will see what their response is like.
  10. Happy Birthday Baz. Trying to keep up with the postings. Primary school girls toilets one end of the playground boys the other - no roof on either. Favourite game was probably kiss chase but the ones who wanted to be caught were not the ones the boys wanted to catch. Empty Vim cardboard containers were requested for use in PT. Winter ice slides were very well used in those days and of course the boiler was coal fired. Lookng at Google maps the school still seems to have the same footprint but with less space round it.
  11. D2258 looks great, my D2267 is now repaired, re-chipped and works brilliantly on setting '1' - the previous chip blew up.
  12. What's this Jeff doing an Andy P! Been mobile and internet inaccessible for a few weeks and come back to find 5/6 whole pages completed. After slowly working through the first then skimmed looking for 'pictures' of progress and wow and find that your skill level has pushed others e.g Sasquatch - what a set of roof supports. Truly amazing progress.
  13. Its the sort of thing that you could not make up - short term finance rather than the realities of pragmatic decisions.
  14. Or perhaps drink it for him to save him the trouble
  15. Hopefully back in harness, so frustrating to be in a place where there is no internet access nor reception for mobile telephones. BiL at last showing some signs of improvement - went in with a stroke (luckily he was at a friends house when it happened otherwise things may have been different) - then pneumonia (ICU) then no power in legs and could not be manually lifted, transferred back to (so called local) hospital where kidney infection discovered, had a temperature spike during the night (he told us that it had 'been hot last night") while we were visiting and then a nurse came in closed the curtains and informed us that they had checked him for Covid19 and that he was positive. That effectively meant no local visiting for us and the need for testing that fortunately have all been negative. I am now in front of a computer while SWMBO hs remained. Commiserations and congratulations as appropriate. So many posts on the web since last visited there is no way to view them but did calculate and overall discovered that there were over 11,000 posts! Will try to access once the garden jungle has been sorted.
  16. Wow - missed a 'few days' and there is an epistle and more - have access and will be in touch. Trewithen looking great.
  17. Try this ... in a big town store on the A4 not far from Windsor where we were surprised to see a lot of shelves 'locked' requiring the assistance of an assistant should one need to purchase - we enquired why and discovered that it was quite commonly necessary.
  18. Plagiarism seems to start at an early stage post 16 for some students who seemed to be totally unaware that we recognised their style and a few clicks on a computer and the entire article(s) were found. Small groups of students appeared to work together but used different parts of said articles. This was in the days of the 'payments' for course working and satisfactory completion and did they moan when the monies were withheld, as they thought they were entitled, the main 'justification' being "I turned up so qualify". No. Provided that the origins were quoted and only snips were used to justify their conclusions an assignment could be accepted.
  19. Why go straight to law like the USA, there is obviously a problem somewhere that needs sorting but then some USA states have their own customs stations on entry. Anymore might go political.
  20. Congratulations to both you and the Boss GDB and happy birthday to Gemma.
  21. Thanks - typos can completely change the context. One of the attractions is a lovely big tree but it has its drawback - being a sycamore at certain times we have to do a lot of 'weeding' and gutter cleaning, the latter fortunately not too high and the bit we cannot reach on the garage the neighbours, thankfully, clear. We see deer, hares, foxes, badgers but also have grey squirrels and, unfortunate this one, an abundance of pigeons (it came up pigs as typing took place) but the variety of birds is great. One additional comment - we have to leave the top garage window open when the garage is closed as we discovered that a robin has nested - the delights of being rural. Gwiwer, your 81 bus event looks fantastic.
