  3. Hi. If you are on a budget then go for a Bachmann 08 if you can. They have better detail then the old Hornby model. Lima class 08/09 are a bit over scale but you can pick these up quite cheap detail is OK but no windows.
  4. Hi martyn . I've converted 4 of my loco's to C D rom drive . Used the 9 volt one as i use Analogue not had a problem in 4 years they run nice and slow. used epoxy to fix them in . The one's i got had the pinion gear fitted to them . Alf

  7. Up date. Went past Crewe last night at 22.08 with the Graffiti not removed. I watched it on the Crewe cam. With a GBRF class 66 pulling it to mersey rail. I understand the reason why it was at Tonbridge yard was when it was go'ing through France the loco broke down. In turn made it late getting here . Not sure if there was no path or driver to take it on . I have been told that GBRF have got to pay to remove the Graffiti as i was done in there yard.
  8. Brand new . What a state this is in. wait a few sec's for pic
  9. Back in the 1970/80s when you went down the high street there where many TV rental shops . The Thorn group Der/ Radio rentals /multi broadcast . plus Rediffusion /Granada /Visionhire/Telefusion. Just to name a few. Looking for Vehicles in OO the only one i can find is a MK1 transit by Trackside in DER livery. Most TV rental companies had Ford Escort Vans or Escort estates and Bedford HA vans. There must be a call for these models.
  10. You want something like these . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-3D-printed-MESH-METAL-PLATFORM-BENCH-1-76-OO-Model-Miniature-Layout-Scenery/233165035922?hash=item3649b81992:g:OTMAAOSwvgVe-ERQ
  11. Back in the 1970's i worked at a Ford dealer , The D series was nice and easy to work on. You undone a handle in the cab and the cab tilted forward so you could work on the engine.
  12. Hi . I've fitted four of my Lima models with CD motors to run on DC This was 3 years ago I used 9 volt motors with no Diodes. So far they still run fine with a Gaugemaster controller . Here is a link if you need some Diodes. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diode-Voltage-Dropper-Kit-for-Lima-Hornby-6V-CD-Motor-Conversion-Replacement-DD3/362658479685?hash=item5470213e45:g:8aUAAOSwrshc5TQ2
  13. For me in order (1st) class 73 (2nd) classs 31 (3rd) Class 92 (4th) class 60. (5th) class 47. The 08/09 looks out of scale. class 55 HO bogies like the Class 50. Back in the very late 1980's early 1990's you could pick them up new for around £30.00 each. From Gaugemaster or my local model shop at the time .who remembers Scalerail Eastbourne got a class 50 from Jim D 400 that as only run twice still in the box to'day.
  14. Scratch making figures . The Black & White cat for postman pat.
  15. Have a look in Poundland . They have USB connector cables that you can cut up and use.
  16. Just seen these buse's With free postage . This one as rose coloured glasses. At that price https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dublin-Bus-Britbus-R703-Volvo-Olympian-Alexander-ALX400-1-76/184338879296?hash=item2aeb741340:g:BmwAAOSw8lte2T1j
  17. Back in the late 1980's the boys wanted a layout. so we built one in the loft most of the loco's at the time where Lima and a few Hornby kettles they came from Grandad . Then we moved house mid 1990's. We took all the track up to re'use in the new house. This did not go to plan as they started to drive . So the kettles got sold and with some diesels . Now's the time to build my own Run down BR blue layout. Most of the old Lima loco's where sold over time replaced with Heljan/Bachmann/Vi trains and one Hornby VEP. The only Lima model's left are 4 class 73's . The layout is based 1970 late 1980's southern 3rd rail on the south coast so more then a few EMU's/DEMU's .
  18. They ran out of kings cross on passenger services . Stratford/March/old oak depots had a lot of class 31's. For freight . There where none allocated to the southern region.
  19. IMGP0456 by ALF WESTLEY, on Flickr kit bashed from Dapol General stores. Side steps came from an old Airfix foot bridge. A spare door from a wills kit. Handrail made from a paperclip. Canopie made with Evergreen plastic rod and paper painted green.
  20. The way i do them . !st get a pin drill plus a small drill . Then drill round the inner edge of the plastic mesh. 2nd get a craft knife and cut out the middle of the plastic mesh Don't go to close to the edge of the rim . 3rd now use a needle file to finish off the edges. Take your time . You may need to use a roller on the new mesh to get the profile correct.
  21. As David said . But i use computer D connectors between all my boards .
  22. If you want a station that takes 7 coaches plus loco you are looking at 8ft . Even 5 coaches plus loco you need 6 ft . And thats not MK3 coaches as these need more space.
  23. 5 coaches only . But i've done away with the traction tyres. As they are now all fitted with Ultrascale wheels. I have not put extra weight in them as i can only get a 4 car in the station.
  24. 47 buffers . Peters spares Lima L5627- 06. https://www.petersspares.com/lima-l5627-06-round-large-buffers-for-class-20-class-47-pk4-black-shaft-oo-gauge.ir
