  1. Has anyone had recent dealings eith Andy Beaton at Ragstone? The website appears not to have been updated since last year, listing shows for 2022, the Facebook page dates back to 2019, and I've had no response to a query sent in over a month ago. Is he still about, anyone know?
  2. Yes. Replace that bit with either thinner MDF or MUCH THINNER ply.
  3. But it could be argued that the report caused the downturn in caring for steam locos, since it predated the photo by around five years?
  4. Handsomely proportioned loco, a K3. We occasionally saw them and K2's at Frodingham, amongst our daily diet of O4, O2, WD 2-8-0 and 9F.
  5. Absolutely. After what happened to us I say to everyone I meet, "If you have any plans, carry them out now, as you may not be able to tomorrow."
  6. Good grief, if Jazz is having problems, what would us mere mortals do?🤭 Sadly, this model is out of production after Lawrie's accident. Does anyone have any news about him?
  7. I reckon jvol5058b is 60015 "Quicksilver", the nameplate was one of only two to have rounded corners, and its one word, so not Silver Link.
  8. Contact eBay and open a dispute. You should get your money back...but don't leave it too long or they won't uphold your claim.
  9. This stuff. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185505090855?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=x-hl_npLRgO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=SR2mx3FtSk2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Other types exist.
  10. Prices of sheet materials in France are stunningly expensive. From ply to chip to mdf to plasterboard. Even a sack of plaster is/was €19. Must be Brexit😉
  11. Always interested in these expert builds, but I do need to restrain myself, as attempting to copy procedures found here, and with the likes of Rob Pulham, or CLAG, have shown up my own inadequacies.😒 Rob, you always seem to work from drawings, which is pretty obviously the way to do it, but where do they come from? I recently wanted drawings of a BR Britannia, but could only find them suitable for a 5" gauge model and priced at over £100🙄 I know of Isinglass but they are mostly LNER.
  12. I was reminded of this stuff yesterday when I had to have a cracked filling replaced. Then it popped up on Facebook. I now see it seems to be available on a certain suction site too. Has anyone used it in our hobby? Interesting that my dentist went to amber lighting, squeezed the stuff into place, spent five minutes carving it, then activated it. I'd have thought that would be useful?
  13. Depends on the service. There are photos on line of black fives in charge of trains ranging from three to thirteen coaches.
  14. C6364, nice view of Gateshead depot, with parts of the old works still standing behind, even though the works closed in 1959.
  15. We did have snow in North Lincs. It arrived 24 hours after it was forecast, put down around 50-60 mm, caused school and technical college closures, 🤔 and was all melted and gone by 1445. Only upside was the fast melt was overflowing my garage guttering, so once it had gone I investigated, to find the downspout blocked by dead leaves. Now cleared. So without the snow I'd not have known...maybe.
  16. "Ye cannae change the laws of physics, Jim".
  17. Read your silly billy post, and at first my heart sank for you. But as s-b's go, not bad. Nothing ruined, nothing needing replaced, no hours of work wasted. So... onward. PS: to steal a Monty Python idea, " Ah won't show that photo te yer wife fer a poond".😄
  18. Who are? Because if its mainstream media it will be pretty much nonsense.
  19. Did the police not follow up on who was selling? Or were they too busy, as they always seem to be these days?
  20. I hope you are relatively highly skilled. Both ACE and PRMRP aren't rated as "straightforward" builds. Do let us know how you get on. The class 81 would be particularly interesting, I've not seen details of an electric build before.
  21. I model in 7mm O gauge. I have to say I'm depressed when at look at kits, and finishing them, especially large locos. Kit: £500-£750. Wheels: £180 Motor/gearbox: £120 Name/number plates: £30+ Paint, transfers etc: £?? And you can easily add another two to three hundred pounds if you start adding more, better, or different parts. Scarey.🤔 But it does put the cost of a Heljan diesel into perspective, and makes those from Dapol real bargains.
