  1. Do the plastic sleeper bases expand too?
  2. In France you can also buy a levelling aid which is a 3m or 4m length of aluminium section, around 100mm x 20mm. Almost as cheap as the angle, much stiffer and useful for any levelling. Brico Depot, LeClerc Brico, Bricoman etc
  3. Mary had a little lamb, it got into her bed. Now it goes to school with her, between two bits of bread.
  4. That one is easy. Put a dab of paint on the lid.
  5. It's maybe due to it being affected by light in liquid form?
  6. Royal Mail? Yep. Just lost 2/3 of a three part delivery, but they swear it was delivered together, despite me asking the delivery driver where the other two bits were🤔 I always like to read your stuff, Rob, it's like a cross between modelling and model engineering. Trouble is, I aspire to do similar, usually with disastrous results .
  7. Years ago, 1970's, the "Night Aberdonian" ran Kings Cross to Aberdeen, last pick up was Doncaster.
  8. MkII: A set of instructions and some brass sheet. MkI: Some brass sheet and a drawing of the loco you're going to build?
  9. I can categorically state that Dairycoates Dubbies seem to have been far cleaner than those we had across the river at Frodingham, Immingham or Doncaster.
  10. I can remember 4mm scale kits in a mixture of white metal and what was described as photo etched brass., and also photo etched nickel silver valve gear. DJH being an early user in their Peppercorn A1. I thought Kemilway was pre-80's? Their stuff, especially valve gear, was way ahead of the competition.
  11. At the works? You often saw odd apparent pairings that weren't pairings in reality on visits to Doncaster Plant.
  12. But the reality of flight vs rail is often that there is little difference unless the distance to be travelled goes above a certain distance. YouTube abounds with videos of, for example, a comparison of two journeys from central London to central Edinburgh, by train or air. Once you realise the problems and cost of central London to airport and airport to central Edinburgh, your choice is pretty clear.
  13. I agree. I was interested to see on the photo of Cramlington station, six cars, only one of which is silver. Nowadays, silver or black.
  14. But they dont look like runaway coaches. Nor do their dmu's and emu's. Most of ours do.
  15. Why, oh why do we persist in dbso's that have a flat front, even a gangway? The French ones are always more stylish.
  16. I was interested in the old cameras. The Miranda... wasn't that a Dixon's own brand? I always found Miranda stuff to be good value for money.
  17. Looks like I remember ours. It was around 10m square and had two large and two smaller Velux windows, so very light. Some friends referred to it as "the dance studio".
  18. Despite having lived all my life in Lincolnshire, first in Cleethorpes, now in Scunthorpe, I've only ever visited New Holland once, on a junior school trip that visited Wilberforce house, Bridlington and Flamborough Head, crossing the Humber via the Ferry. I remember there was a B1 in the pier station.
  19. Also might add: I'm not sure how much caulking I'd be doing until I've seen the boards go through a full year or so of expansion/contraction.
  20. Dust? Aye, where does it come from? Ours, as a holiday home, so is shut up tight for up to five months. On going back, as I go round getting the water and leccy set up, opening shutters etc, wife is busy in her wheelchair wiping every horizontal surface she can get to with neutral wet wipes. We have THREE Vax cylinder vacuum cleaners, all bought second hand, one which was bought for parts and I fitted a new motor, all have cloth emptyable, washable bags and a supply of clean filters. They are excellent for any renovation work, although the suction is so powerful that if I don't pick up big bits, they can block their hoses. Three? They are so heavy we have one for each part of the house.😄 And guess who has to do the hoovering?😁
  21. A well known auction site, but you'll need to know which issue they came in. Google might produce an answer, there used to be a site with issues listed in numerical order, and what each issue contained. There was a list on the previous incarnation of this site....🙁
