  1. Finally picking back up on this thread, we're now starting to release transfer packs as requested for these ferry vans. First out of the blocks is the early BR (pre-RIV numbers) pack in 4mm: http://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=1738 Hopefully this covers all the markings for the initial batch, compiled with the extremely informative info provided by Jon Hall. We can hear many people shouting, "What about the later versions with the flying crate / Through To The Continent / other scales" etc... Fear not! These will follow, but we had to start somewhere and logically we decided to start at the beginning Thanks, Steve Railtec Transfers
  2. Thanks Jon. With many more to follow as demand requires (although we do have quite a long list of outstanding items!)
  3. Thanks Heather, that's absolutely correct. When this technique is used the (already thin) carrier film disappears completely as can be seen in some sample images below, courtesy of George Dent and Silver Fox: Many RTR models use our transfers in this way, and the added benefit of course is that the modeller has the luxury of being able to position a waterslide transfer exactly as they wish prior to final sealing. We also have a lot more in the pipe for 7mm items. Rob - the mk1 sleeper and TPOs you've asked for are definitely on the radar! Thanks, Steve
  4. If that's cluttered then remind us to never show you the Railtec office, Lee! It's hardly what you could describe as the Dalai Lama's minimalist retreat. Loving those Strathclyde 101s. IMHO probably the second most attractive livery ever (after Sealink). Full of character. Steve Railtec Transfers www.railtec-models.com
  5. Thanks for that - every bit helps! There are actually 2 parallel packs (4mm-6163 and 4mm-6164) for those who have longer rakes. Besides all the smaller markings, each pack has 4 different running numbers, and we do add some variety to the data panels for that extra bit of authenticity.
  6. Design work has started on these packs and we hope to be releasing them over the coming weeks. As ever, we do have to consistently juggle priorities - not just with other packs that people have asked for, one-off jobs (some of which can be quite challenging and extremely time-consuming), meeting demands of bulk requirements of some kit builders, working with magazines and of course keeping the catalog reasonably updated. Simply put, there are never enough hours in the day but we're well aware of the interest in the VIX packs so rest assured we're as keen to push them over the line as the good folks here. As soon as there is some solid movement we'll report back. Watch this space and thanks to all for the patience.
  7. Jon, you're certainly the man with the info! Please allow us some time to digest the vast detail kindly provided. If it's ok we might contact you privately if there are other bits of detail which might be required. We have a few sizes of "standard" sheet so I'm sure we can come up with something which will hopefully suit most people. Just to set the correct expectation - as ever with these things, it's entirely likely that there won't be a perfect pack for everyone, but we'll certainly do what we can to cater for as many folk as possible. It may take us a short while to study what we think would suit, as we constantly have to juggle other demands in parallel. Watch this space... Thanks, Steve
  8. It's one option, and we're certainly open to feedback. Only thing we'd volunteer on this note is that if we can make easy one-piece application transfers with the detail already filled in, thereby minimising time/hassle for modellers, would that be preferred? At least the feedback we hear from customers via the web site and at shows is that folks generally don't want the hassle of cutting out and lining up numbers, though in some cases it may be unavoidable. We'll watch with interest how this thread develops, and it may well make sense to release 2, 3 or even more similar packs in parallel. Obviously we need to be sensible and make sure that the time and development invested doesn't make a pack so specific that it would only ever meet the requirements of one modeller, but instead strike that happy balance. Looking through Bartlett's images there are clearly multiple liveries (Railfreight, bauxite, Civil Link, etc) and naturally variations within those liveries. Perhaps a sensible question to ask is - would modellers tend to stick to one VIX livery? If we were to gradually release packs per livery, what we would want to avoid is forcing people down the route of having to buy multiple packs.
  9. Folks, we'd be happy to pursue this and add them to our range. So, at great risk of opening the flood gates, now is a good juncture at which to ask if there are specific markings / number ranges you'd like to see in the pack? Once we have a reasonable grasp of what people would find useful, getting this pack to market should be pretty straight-forward. Thanks, Steve Railtec Transfers
  10. Just to let the good folks here know that we're aware of this thread and consequently have made every effort to keep up with the demand. The item is back in stock, and in parallel we are looking to release an NCB pack shortly. Folks may also be interested to learn that we already have an internal user departmental pack available at the link below, which contains a variety of markings which may be carried by wagons in industrial use. As ever, if people have suggestions for future packs they may like to see, then we're always willing to listen. http://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=1065 Thanks, Steve Railtec Transfers
