  1. Thank you. You have saved me the trouble of going through my set to find it as I too remembered the piece. steve
  2. Made a start on ground cover and sections of low relief factory walls on r/h side. Plus there's this sad and neglected container that may find a home on the layout. Not sure on that yet. steve
  3. The ukulele is the second most horrible ‘musical’ instrument (of torture) after the bagpipes and only marginally ahead of the banjo... steve
  4. I have 2 of these in off white. I had always assumed they were too big for a 4mm layout. Thanks for putting me right! steve
  5. The one in AR on Wednesday night was a nasty sort of yellow-brown. Was that it? steve
  6. Did anyone else spot the Mk 1 Transit in the last episode of Agatha Raisin? Wonder where they found that! At the start of the programme she was stuck in a traffic jam behind an MGB and an A55 van. This despite the show being set in the present day. steve (who was obviously watching too closely...)
  7. Nice work on the Delicia. That's just the sort of 'ordinary' vehicle we need more of on the RTR market. Supercars and classic sports models are all well and good but don't fit regular street scenes. Endless rallies of such vehicles get a bit boring... We need more pickup trucks and vans that aren't just Transits too. steve
  8. There was the one in Rail magazine by a certain Mr P Sutton about Class 31s being given silly names like The Magic Roundabout in the late 1980s (or was early 1990s?). Anyone else remember that? steve
  9. I have a couple of KleinModellBahn wagons and they are very good. Incidentally, Contikits always have an excellent selection of German stock at very reasonable prices. Usual disclaimer, a lot of my German stock came from them. http://www.contikits.com/ steve
  10. Usually a foam track base straight on to the bottom of the box after a spray of fixative to set. Then ground cover of whatever is required. I have also used a cork tile and then laid track and scenery directly on to it. My present project, Clowder Street, will have all 3 boxes set onto ply base for strength as they are all joined together. steve
  11. I don't live in Hull but I am a member of a Hull-based model railway group. Hull was, quite rightly, the City Of Culture for 2017. In addition, during the time the programme appears to have run, I didn't bother watching much TV and didn't even have one when I first married in 1976. steve
  12. Did you happen to notice if the Bachy one was still running? Thanks steve
  13. This has passed me by completely. Who he? steve
  14. Time for a RMWeb version? Who will volunteer to join Mr York in the lists? steve
  15. I’m reasonable at identifying birds by sight but rubbish when it comes to song. There was bird in the hedge behind our garden this afternoon that make a snipping sound like scissors but we couldn’t see it. Any suggestions as to what it might have been? Thanks steve
  16. I wonder how many times he got pulled over when driving it... steve
  17. Great pub certainly with good beer. Unless it’s changed (not been in for some time) maybe not so good for food? steve
  18. /pedant mode on That was antifreeze. /pedant mode off steve
  19. Monk Bar Models in York have a sort of layout in the window with, during shop hours, trains running. The NRM had, for a while, both Hornby and Bachy display layouts a few years ago. I seem to remember they went to Shildon but whether they are working I know not. steve
  20. If the OP also means the old 'penny-in-the-slot' variety, I know of one owned by a member of ERFG. We (the Group) refurbished it back to full running order, including the coin operating mech, and it is intended to be placed in a model shop one day. steve
  21. Fair enough, that's her name but where in the IoM? steve
  22. Ok it's US-centric but certainly fascinating all the same. As it happens, the only 'fast food' chain we ever use is Subway. And that no more the a few times a year. We learnt about them when we visited Canada some years ago and before there were any over here, I think. steve
  23. I can’t make out my wife. First she says I can have a tattoo if I want one, next she’s complaining about having a dozen bagpipers in the garden. steve
  24. Both my Sister and one of my mates had Nova Saloons like that. Sister's was red and mate's a nasty shade of brown. Would love to know what's under the bonnet of that Escort! steve
